2020-2021 Ohio State Men's Basketball (Official Thread)

Just sayin': In addition to effectively defending the other other team's "big guy" (article below); I'll go out on a limb here and say they are giving up way too many uncontested 3 point shots.

We've gone from hoping there's a season to complaining about falling from a one seed. I'm more interested in being healthy when tourney time comes.

We're fighting through the toughest conference in hoops. Give me a healthy bunch of Buckeyes against the non-B1G teams in March.

Yep. When every one was at full strength - CJ Walker, Kyle Young, Musa Jallow- the Bucks strung together some nice wins. OSU is a good team (very good even) but it seems like it takes ALL the parts working to consistently win.

There’s not the true top-end talent to get by on every off night (yet). EJ and DWJ can have great games but consistent top-end talent is still on the way. Luckily, we’ve got a great coach that has pieced together this season the best he can. And it’s been a pretty damn good season, all things. I’m ready for March.

You forgot 1 very important thing that really needs to be done - FIRE HOLTMANN!!!

Statistically, the Buckeyes are in the middle to bottom-of-the-pack in just about every defensive category in the Big Ten, and the (un)likelihood that this defense can be elite never leaves Holtmann’s thinking for long.

“It’s consuming me right now,” he said earlier this week. “So it’s everything I think about because that’s our biggest area of growth and improvement that we need to have. And I think that was just an honest statement on our part knowing where we’re at and some of our overall deficiencies. I think we might not have the potential to be a top 20 defense like we have in the past here, but we can be better. And I think that’s the challenge in front of us.”

The pieces are still all there, but the 'ham-and-egging' it is not. Hope we don't see something akin to the Jay Burson years, (I seem to recollect), when he went down hard, broke his neck, had it in a halo, and the Buckeyes didn't win much for the rest of the season. Don't want to be a Debbie Downer here, so let's hope that our injuries heal, tired legs get rejuvinated, shots start falling, and the players remember to cover the backside of the lane. Have a lot of faith in Holtmann, and the players, just don't have any clue what secret sauce to add....for what they're making, hope that they do. Go Bucks

In my opinion you can pretty much throw out all of the past seasons' numbers in the tourney, maybe except for the teams with a lot of seniors. This years conference is so tough that every team that makes it should play well against non-BiG opponents. Any BiG team making a run in the dance would not shock me considering the battle test this season has been
