Temple LB just talked the umpire out of a late hit flag after tossing a receiver to the ground while straddling the sideline.

May be the first penalty I’ve ever seen where the player successfully pleaded his case (and he was correct).

Wild play. Temple offsides, ECU takes the shot because it’s a free play. WR may have caught the ball but fumbled forward through the end zone on the tackle, another ECU player knocks it out the back line of the end zone trying to recover the apparent fumble for a TD, so now it’s a touchback in Temples favor.

But it was a free play.

Refs immediately say it was caught and fumbled and ECU will accept the offsides penalty, because these refs want to get to BW3 by midnight and don’t want to waste one second figuring out that fuckery and who is declining what and whether it was a catch, fumble, or ever recovered in the end zone by either team.
