So question...If the unthinkable happens next week, could South Carolina potentially knock their second team out of the playoff? Or would Clemson still get in by beating up on VA/VAT in the ACC title game to go 12-1?

I'd hope it would knock them behind ou, uo, and utah. But you never know what the committee will do. Do they get credit for past success (the bama mulligan) or does the committee use it to put 2 secsecsec teams in. Luckily there is little chance anyone will need to consider this beyond about 10 minutes into the first quarter next week.
