2019 B1G season discussion

Iowa will probably lose just to spite Wiscy.

Then Wiscy will beat Minny just to spite us, though I doubt we will need the strength of schedule at that point.

I wouldnt even say to spite us... that's my preferred chain of events. PSU, Wiscy, Minny all get 2nd loss from us. All should be top15... PSU and Minny top10 at time of matchup.
Plus Michigan probably sticks, Cinci wins AAC (better than the ACC), and outside chance Indiana sneaks into top25.

Gotta say this Conference sure goes out of way to set teams up for failure.
Safe to assume Ohio State, Wisconsin, PSU, Iowa, scUM, MSU, Nebraska can all be trap games.
MSU should maybe drop off this list... but it's not hard to put one together based on last ~10yrs, stadium environment, rankings, etc.

It's not hard to space these out. Especially with bye and OOC cupcakes.
A lot of them are in Nov too.
And the 9 game schedule is just straight up stupid. Only thing it does is guarantee you have 7 more losses than every other conferemce... in a ranking system where # of losses is 1000 times more important than who you beat.
Self-defeating idiocy from the Conference.

OSU - PSU, @scUM
Wiscy - @OSU, Iowa, @Corn
PSU - @Iowa, scUM, @MSU
MSU - @OSU, @Wiscy, PSU
IU - @PSU, scUM
Minny - PSU, @Iowa
Mary - scUM, @OSU, Corn, @MSU
Rut - OSU, MSU, @PSU
Illinois - scUM, Wiscy ... later @MSU, @Iowa
Nerds - MSU, @Wiscy, @Corn, OSU, Iowa

Not that this is in anyway likely, but what if

Illinois beats Iowa and Northwestern

Minnesota loses to Northwestern and Wisconsin

Wisconsin loses to Purdue and beats Minnesota

Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois and would all be 6-3 in B1G play. Illinois beat Wisconsin but lost to Minnesota. Minnesota beat Illinois but lost to Wisconsin. Wisconsin beat Minnesota but lost to Illinois

hows that whacky tiebreaker go down? Would it go to Illinois since them and Wisconsin would have 2 division losses while the Goofers would have 3?

It starts getting complicated

2. The records of the three (or more) tied teams will be compared based on winning percentage within their division.
3. The records of the three (or more) teams will be compared against the next highest placed teams in their division in order of finish (4, 5, 6, and 7).
(a) When arriving at a group of tied teams while comparing records, use each team’s record against the collective tied teams as a group, rather than record against the individual teams.
