2019-2020 College Basketball Discussion (Official Thread)

utah steals our thunder by beating uk. wildcats are pathetic behind the arc. osu should if win they attack the defensive boards and not make too many stupid mistakes with the ball. uk overplays on defense, so there will be plenty of opportunities for kickouts. getting washington back and somewhat close to 100% would be huge.

We need to be much more secure with the ball that's for sure

In general, when playing a capable team I'd much rather not play them coming off a loss. Minny also had a terrible game before they played us at Iowa where Marcus Carr couldn't have thrown the ball in the ocean and then against us he's on-fire Kobe Bryant.

I especially don't like playing a Calipari team coming off a loss. Say what you want about him, he's a pretty good motivator, and when his team loses it just gives him extra fuel to use. Kind of smart of him to get his team acquainted with this venue that sounds like another shooting nightmare for us. Based on the unusual type of injury, I have no idea when we will get a 100% Washington back... but Holtmann's comments that he was nowhere close to ready for the Minny game weren't the most encouraging, at least not that he will be in top form whenever he does play his next game.

Holtmann commented that Minny and even SEMO sped them up on offense a bit and got them out of sync. Well, UK can do that type of thing twice as well as either of those teams, so we are really going to need our team locked in on both ends of the floor and we need to impose the pace of the game.

i suspect that you'd have a negative feeling about the game no matter what happened previously.

shocker. the guy would have otherwise returned from suspension for the third conference game (1/12). memphis has only 1 loss and is currently ranked 11th after the win over tennessee. no doubt he has no loyalty outside of the loyalty to himself.

the game will be so much better once the one-and-done rule is addressed. guys like wiseman don't belong in college. and they don't want to be in college.

I did not have a negative feeling about any game this season except for Cincy and Minny.

I am not sure I have a negative feeling about Saturday, I only watched UK's first game and some of their game against Evansville. I just know we can't play anything like we did against Minny or the first half against SEMO if we want to win.

Before the season started, I said I figured possibly 3 OOC losses, with @UNC and UK the most likely. Before the season started, many would have guessed the same. I guessed something like 7 losses in the B1G. And I didn't say anything to the effect that we should be unranked, I said if forced to pick a preseason ranking I would have to go with something between Katz' 24th and Goodman's 16th.

In the course of the season I was wary about the UC game just because it was the opener and I knew it would be ugly. Based on how teams were playing, I did not have any extra trepidation about Nova or @UNC. And now with UK I am just uncertain because how we've played the last couple games is something a team like UK could really exploit, but I do think overall we have the better team at this moment, we just need to impose our will Saturday and play more like we were playing before that 8-day lay-off.
