2018 Week 2 CFB Open Thread

ZERO PASS ATTEMPTS in the 2nd half for Gawja Tech.

Love the option. It's one of those offenses that, if working right, can grind a mofo into dust.

I remember playing football in the 80's that it was a pretty common attack and that defenses got so good at stopping it, it went away.

It can be great but a very disciplined defense can bottle it up and then if you get behind as a team that runs it, you are in a world of hurt

Yes! This is why you stick with a 42-0 Michigan game. Patterson with the 15 yard rollout sack that he tried really hard to turn into a fumble. Solid work by Mississippi Jesus. Even amidst the garbage of steamrolling a horrible team, flashes of brilliance still shine through.
And followed it up with a noodle armed high duck over the middle on 3rd and long... like I said, flashes of brilliance even amidst the mundane blowout.

Late to the party and just back from gym. Watched TCU. I feel VERY comfortable about next week, although they would have had a little bit of success against Ohio State' defensive backfield last week.

Yep, just about every school here in Nebraska ran option when I was coming up as well. Definitely not an offense you want to get behind with, but for simplicity and teaching, it's a good offense to have in your back pocket.

If you don’t have talented players outside of a RB that no one else will take due to their arrest record, a bunch of OL on steroids, and a scrappy QB, it’s a great offense.

Yeah, was that in Ohio? I remember about 4 or 5 teams each year ran either the triple option or the wing-t. Total PITA as a d-lineman, but also kind of fun. You got to hit a qb just about every play, pass or not HEHE :)

Played HS football in Cleveland from '88 to '90.

Western NY around that time for me, not Ohio

My Bundy like HS career spanned 87-89

The blocking alone requires guys on defense to be prepared to get cut on every single play.

I have no clue of who you speak of :biggrin2::biggrin2:
