The 2017 class is getting some badly needed late reinforcements.

If you’re looking for a reason to feel a little better about Ohio State’s roster situation for this season, you’ve got one, as the Buckeyes just added a big time recruit late in the process.

Four-star 2017 forward Kyle Young originally picked Butler over Ohio State, along with other offers. But now that the Buckeyes have hired Chris Holtmann away from the Bulldogs, Young has decided to join him in Columbus.

The 6-7 Young out of Massillon, Ohio was a consensus four-star recruit, and was the #2 player in the state of Ohio, per the 247 Sports Composite. He picked Butler over Ohio State, Illinois, Florida, Michigan State, and other power programs. He averaged 19.3 points per game as Massillon Jackson.

Young may not play a huge role right away, but he provides critical depth for a roster that lacks it at virtually every position. He can run and space the floor, finish in traffic, and work as an undersized four, or a three, depending on who else is on the floor.
