CFB Weekly Thread 2017 CFB Week 8 Open Thread

And looking to get our first win ever over a top 5 team at home.
You can hold whatever opinions you'd like, however misguided they might be, but please stick to the facts:

Ohio State wins at home over Top-5 opponents:

1942: Michigan, #4
1954: Wisconsin, #2
1957: Iowa, #5
1968: Purdue, #1
1968: Michigan, #4
1970: Michigan, #4
1972: Michigan, #3
1974: Michigan, #3
1985: Iowa, #1
1996: Penn State, #4
2006: Michigan, #2
2016: Michigan, #3

I don't know what agenda you're pushing, but blatantly misrepresenting the facts ain't the best way to push it.

I'm not a Tim Beck fan. I just don't scapegoat him for everything that goes wrong for an offense with a struggling OL, especially when he's working for an offensive minded head coach who is heavily involved with developing the game plan and who wears a working headset during the game.

But hey, you come prepared to blame all offensive struggles solely on one person and you're probably going to see exactly what you want to see. Never mind all the plays that worked to put them in a position to win. The game wasn't lost because a true freshman QB threw a boneheaded pick instead of heaving the ball into the stands. Nope, it was the playcalling.

I think the issue is how they got to OT in the first place. Oklahoma State came in allowing over 31 ppg in Big XII play.

The leading rusher for Texas, in terms of carries, ended up being their QB. They scored 10 points. When we see a Beck performance like that, it's a reminder of the 2015 Sparty debacle where Zeke got 12 carries and JT Barrett got 15.

IU hanging with MSU. Not surprising to me.

Meanwhile, our Week 1 "1st Round talent" Richard Lagow has thrown 1 pass in the last 3 games. It's all Ramsey for the Hoosiers. MSU are not good, which makes TSUN loss even better.

I seriously assumed he didn’t realize he was typing without the sarcasm font.

It's also happened a couple of other times at Texas already...just last week, as well. And it was a common occurrence his whole tenure here. When the offense struggles, his default position is "QB run."

I know Texas has a backfield full of Lydell Ross's, but no attempt is made at mitigating their weakness.

At least Barrett has some break away ability. Ehlinger, while capable of moving around a bit, does not. For the season he now has 84 carries for 261 yards, or a hair over 3 yards per carry. He netted -10 yards on 16 carries today. Negative yardage. On 16 attempts. He totalled 10 yards on 19 carries against USC. The QB run was emphatically NOT working in those two close games, and he dialed it up 35 times. Shane Buechele, a classic pocket passer, had the QB run called 15 times against Maryland, totalling 21 yards. That is terrible playcalling.
