I hate the targeting rule for several reasons, not the least of which is the seemingly inconsistent application of it.

I think it's very consistent.

If the player initiates contact with his helmet and that helmet happens to be worn by an Alabama player, it isn't targeting.

Yeah A&M's playcalling has been...questionable so far.
