2015 Sugar Bowl Less Civilized Thread (Arguments/Shenanigans)

Maybe it is your family that is racist! Go ahead...paint us all with one brush. Your rhetoric just confirms the stereotype that I apply to you! Fuckstick! I have been very civil and very respectful during my time here but I have to speak up. If you want to ban me for it, go ahead.

The generalization only applies one way?

This is a nuanced conversation that I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt believing that you can have, don't make me regret that by misinterpreting what I'm saying and throwing in the towel.

As I said before, if you haven't been first party to the racist culture of the south GOOD. I'm happy for you, but don't try and pull the wool over anyone's eyes who has experienced it first hand and say that it doesn't apply anymore.

For the record, I'm not a "northerner". I grew up in the south, am mixed race and know all too well what it's like to be black and have a black family in a predominantly white, not so subtly racist community.

Translation: Your shenanigans are neither cheeky nor fun. Poopyhead.

BTW, I'm all for the segregation  of the two sets of conversations.

Hopefully it will help to not confuse our guests as to which thread is for the discussion and which thread is for the trolling.

I'm sure I'm not the only one that enjoys both in a closed environment.

Going to drop a bomb on you now. You northerners are more racist than us. I know, I know....history would disagree. We've, for the most part, dealt with the issue over the last 50 years and relations have improved tremendously. I'm not denying it does not exist here. That stereotype once applied. It isn't nearly applicable here anymore. You keep bringing it up.

A joke, pal. Both sides LOVE embracing (and plastering) stereotypes of how we're supposed to be. I don't think I've had one serious post in any thread relating to tOSU v Bama yet.

Clearly we went the wrong way, it should've been the March to the Mississippi.

This is the stupidest fucking thing I've ever heard.

I have family in Alabama, Mississippi and Georgia. The other half of my family is black.

These are some of the most backwards, racist as fuck places on the planet. Don't kid yourself.

If you HONESTLY believe that that stereotype "isn't nearly applicable here anymore" then you're either ignorant to the level of your OWN racism, or have been lucky enough not to have been a party to it. For your sake I hope it's the latter.

I'm (unfortunately) currently stationed in Little Rock, Arkansas. I will absolutely cosign on this.

Arkansas, Mississippi, and Bama are three of the racist states I've ever been in. I thought it was just the way southerners butcher the English language on common words that was the worst. That was until I heard the vile racism that spews openly out of their slack-jaw mouths about blacks, as if we are still living in the 1800s. They openly advertise for the Klan here. Its disgusting.

//break//

The closer and closer this game gets, the more excited I am. I just feel this team is fully expecting to roll into the Sugar Bowl with a solid reinforcement of Alabama fans being the majority in the stands. They will come in prepared and ready to go. The players read the press articles, they know they are being heavily discounted. While Alabama players will never admit they are overlooking OSU (just as our players did against PSU and Indiana), I don't believe they will sell themselves on the fact that they can be beaten by a 'slow Big Ten team.' If this team can be beaten by Ole Miss, throw 3 INTs against Auburn in one half, and barely escape Arkansas with a 1 point win - the Buckeyes is very much able to beat the Tide.

Whereas it's so true anyone from the south should tread ever so lightly re: discussing the issue of race, Bear Bryant was lucky 'cause the race issue was rendered moot after Sam the Bam Cunningham kicked 'Bama's butt in 1970.

Cutting to the chase, tidefan1 do yourself an enormous favor and stay away from all aspects of the race issue. Having spent the past twenty years occasionally surfing political blogs, it's interesting er amusing how conservatives are almost always the first to dive into the race issue. !@#$%^&* Good times.

Indeed, stick to football as Cunningham brought Bryant out of the Dark Ages, pun intended as bottom line Bryant wanted to continue winning, hence, therefore, ergo out of immediate necessity, Bryant started recruiting Blacks out of fear of losing. Which brings us full circle 'cause prejudice is basically a combination of fear and stupidity.

Yea, politics and sports overlap a great deal, who knew?

We now return you to college football, which tends to be dominated by a certain race. Go figure!

btw, I don't post at political blogs anymore as it's become an endless circle jerk, much like sports blogs. :o

I'll actually take the heat for his response. I figured the tongue n cheek approach would have been as obvious as some of the inflammatory stuff I've said about Pittsburgh fans. Clearly it was not.
Sliiiiight miscommunication here. Moving forward...
