Game Thread 2015 Sugar Bowl: (1) Alabama vs. (4) Ohio State, Jan 1st @ 8:30p ET, ESPN (civilized thread)

Decker. He had two in the CCG as well. It's not even like a jump offsides as much as it's like a nervous twitch. I think he gets thinking too much sometimes.

You could see Urban telling them to speed up the tempo after that.

When a lineman gets down in his stance and you do the stare over to the sidelines thing for 15-20 seconds it increases the odds they jump.

One false start was at the 1-yard line on third down in the second quarter when we were trying to run up-tempo right after Samuel had run it out of bounds at the 1. This pushed the ball back to the six where we missed the TD opportunity on the swing pass to Zeke and then had to kick the FG. That false start can't be blamed on most of the offense staring at the sidelines...

Crazy to here that Oregon St could hire away a Wisconsin coach. Does anyone on here spend time on a Big 12 message board? how arewisky fans taking the news?

What does the Big12 have to do with anything?

The Bucky faithful I've seen on Reddit are confused as hell.

I won't be surprised to see something very fishy surface soon. I just don't see Gary jumping ship that easily.

Yep, you've got to beat the man to be the man. It should be a great game with interesting match ups...

And to be clear, I like Alabama well enough for an SEC team mainly because their fans don't give Ohio State nearly as much shit as some of the other SEC homer schools but I still don't feel like the Crimson Tide or their fan base respect Ohio State or the Big Ten, at all. Maybe some of that is warranted, some of it isn't. Beating the Tide would go a long, long ways to setting them straight. But I don't really have any hatred for Alabama. I just want to send a message to the SEC and the rest of college football.

Huge game for the Buckeyes if they can win. The dangerous thing I don't see mentioned a lot is the Buckeyes are on their 3rd string QB, everyone thought they were done after the VT disaster, the team is really young and to be frank they are about a year ahead of schedule. They are playing with house money at this point, so don't expect them to come out and play scared or be in awe of vaunted Alabama. Especially with Meyer as coach.

Good points. Saban will not let this team go into the game without clear respect for OSU. He knows Urban is trying to build a team with SEC caliber talent/speed needed to win these types of games, and I'm sure he will show tape of the B1G CG during film study. This is what each team has been pointing towards the entire season. It will culminate 3 weeks from tomorrow...

ETA: 'Bama is the 6th or 7th youngest team in the country, so we're right on schedule...

Beating Bama won't send a message for the conference, but for Ohio State.

The B1G is still the weaker of the two leagues (although not by as much as the pundits might suggest, imo).

That message IS very important, however. I mentioned it before. As much as we know we have the talent to compete with anyone in the country, until we win on the big stage we will not get the benefit of the doubt. We have the opportunity to beat the perceived kings of college football, move on and then get the chance to either confirm Oregon's bridesmaid status or derail the nations longest win-streak and defending champs. If that happens, with this staff and these players and the bright, bright future ahead this could be the beginning of an unrivaled run. It all starts Jan 1st, though.

In 2006 the SEC went 1-4 against the Big 10. Yet the one major game was enough to say the SEC was the toughest conference.

I don't know if this is meant to be tongue in cheek or not. That was pretty much the beginning of the shift.

Actually it took 4 years before the SEC started winning regularly more games than the B1G. For the most part it was the B1G winning more games or both conferences tying. But all people cared about was the championship.

Yes it was the beginning of the downslide, but why can't Ohio State winning be the beginning of the downslide (or maybe even FSU/Oklahoma last year) for the SEC
