Game Thread 2015 Sugar Bowl: (1) Alabama vs. (4) Ohio State, Jan 1st @ 8:30p ET, ESPN (civilized thread)

I didn't think that the Buckeyes would roll over. I also didn't think that they'd win after falling behind 21-6. Alabama is a very good team, and it's difficult to come back from a 15-point deficit regardless of whom you're playing. In that situation, there's a big difference between playing with pride and actually winning the game. So yeah, I was worried.

On the plane home from Charlotte an Auburn fan asked me if I turned the television off at 21-6. I said hell no, I was at the game. We just drank a little harder.

I'm pretty positive it was White.

I remembered thinking "he's not producing as advertised".

I think it was. He was definitely off. And when he was open, sims threw it to somebody covered.

After watching parts of the game again, there was a lot of room for improvement by both sides. I think a lot of that was due to the fact that both of the these teams are incredibly youthful. I'm sure OSU has had good recruiting classes under Meyer, so you guys should improve. And Saban's last two classes have been his best ever. So we may have three or four rematches.

Saban said before this season that he was rebuilding the program before he rode off into the sunset. He knows he had a couple of bad recruiting years around 2010 and 2011, and I don't think he's going to let that happen again. Word his that he no longer recruits cb's less than 6' tall (Thank God).

I watched the replay on DVR this morning. Maybe I'm reading too much into this but.....did anyone else notice JT Barrett on the sidelines wearing his jersey with headset on...and Braxton Miller in street clothes and no headset?

Oh, and I absolutely HATE the empty backfield 1st and goal at the 1....or on 1st down (anywhere on the field) for that matter.
Have noticed the same thing the last few games. Commented on it to others with the observation/thought that JT seems to be more invested in what is going on. Don't know if that is the case, if JT has a different responsibility than Braxton or something else. The pessimist in me has me thinking that maybe Braxton knows he either isn't or won't be able to come back and he has checked out. Hope that is not the case but it seems that JT is always around the bench talking to Cardale when the offense is off the field and I don't think I have seen one screen shot with Braxton being involved in that. Curious.

Re-watched the game yesterday. Plenty to ponder about the play calling by both OCs. Two series beginning inside the ten and the Bucks don't give the ball to Zeke. BUT the third time they were in that spot they did. I went out of my mind when they took a shot down field on first and ten with less than 2 minutes to play. Fortunately that was matched by the Tide not going with Henry - guy looked like Eddie George including that 27 on his jersey - too bad he's not eligible for the draft. I want him out of there before Bama gets another shot at us. - Sims' arm came up for observation when he tried to throw a pass back across the field and just a bit down field. Ball had nothing on it and bounced a good five yards short of the potential receiver.

Question: Anyone have any ideas as to why Urban elected to not go hurry up? Saban was running four to seven men out there after almost every play.

Finally, amazed at how fast this team went from one linebacker to a whole platoon of 'em, how quickly the DBs turned into a tough unit and finally the array of wide receivers to draw upon, especially how Marshall has grown into a big play maker.

Still in a daze and the game has been over for more then 24 hours.

I'm not sure how people watched Braxton Miller for 4 years, which included multiple departures from the field, and missed his laid back, casual demeanor off the field. He's never been particularly engaged on the sidelines when he isn't playing, and many have found fault with him for lacking the fire and killer instinct.

I hope he does what is right for him, but people are making pretty huge leaps based on the exact same behavior from Braxton.

Most shots I've seen of Braxton this year he's been sitting in the press box with the coaches.

There's also the possibility that what some posted on here, that his injury means he can't be a QB anymore that he might do the Jalin Marshall role along with Marshall and Wilson.

But it was touched, which is why the ball was live and the ref didn't blow the whistle until it was downed.

The original statement was about whether a ball that goes into the endzone needs to be covered. I've seen an untouched ball not get covered and still called a touchback. I believe that the rule is different in the NFL. And before that opening kickoff, I would have said that it doesn't matter if it is touched - it's still a touchback. After that play, I realized that that was wrong - it DOES need to be covered if it is touched. Unfortunately, Ohio State had a couple of guys who could have known that but didn't. But I can't say that I blame them, since I didn't know it, either.

It is my devout hope that they have been on a learning curve all season, and are saving their perfect game for the evening of January 12th, 2015.
I like the sentiment, but I think they already played that game in Indy. What is happening now is the team adjusting to Cardale and Cardale getting up to speed with this offense. I'm still amazed at how well he's played in not one, but two high stakes, full spotlight, games.

The 2015 Sugar Bowl and Rose Bowl are now the #1 and #2 most watched programs in cable television history. http://dlvr.it/80Fk4H

I said that tOSU would not be able to run on us....wrong. I said Ezell would not get 100 yards, wrong again and I said that tOSU would not score 30 on us....wrong again. You guys had the better team and won the battle in the trenches too. Congratulations and hope to play Y'all again this year in the playoffs.
