Game Thread 2015 National Championship Game: (2) Oregon vs. (4) Ohio State, Jan 12th @ 8:30p ET, ESPN

I went to The Shoe three times this season. The first time they lost. The second time they beat M*ch*g*n but the quarterback was injured. The third time, I got to take this video:

  1. stay the fuck away when its warm out
  2. There is no "but" after "they beat M*ch*gan"
  3. Blair Witch much? I almost puked from motion sickness

Just busting balls, very cool.

Am I the only one that thought it was low-class to score the final touchdown in the final seconds of the game? That's not an act of strength or class, just a lowly bully cowardly kicking someone when they're down. C'mon, 'coach' meyer, quit being the little boy who's still trying to get his daddy's approval by beating up on the opponent.

Best response I have seen was over on 11 Warriors. If I am not supposed to poach, mods can zap this and give me a yellow card. Sorry in advance.

There were 2 things that Duck fans bitched about. The Bosa hit was the first.

Meyer's decision to go for the TD with 50 seconds left when we drew them offsides on the hard count. At that point, Helfich had 2 time-outs left and by appearances, was not calling them. His team was beaten.

Normally I say, take a knee. But NCs don't come calling very often. This is my 3rd in 50 years. While some (outside of Buckeye Nation) considered it a dick move by Meyer, I think you need to go for the TD just to slam the door. If this is a regular season game, take the knee. With the whole season on the line, you go for it and let both teams play. It's what the kids worked for.

On the second point, that last TD set the all time Ohio State record for best bowl performance by a RB for Ezekiel Elliott (his 4th TD surpassed Raymont Harris's 3 TD bowl game). Anyone who would deny that opportunity to Zeke after the game he played should be kicked in the nuts. You do not deny a player the chance to achieve history on the biggest stage just to allow the other team to save face. If it was a cupcake game, you put your third stringers in there and take a knee. In the National Championship, you reward the men who got you there. Go Buckeyes!!!!!!!

Ohio State: The best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be.

If Helfrich wanted out, he shouldn't have called a timeout after we ran it on 1st down. The game would've ended -- but he called that timeout, and there was no guarantee he wouldn't call the other 2 with a new set of downs. .

I doubt Urban was aware of the 3 TD vs. 4 TD thing at all. At least publicly he generally seems oblivious to historical stats like that - more concerned with meaningful stats like percentages wrt field position.
All 4 Coaches on Film Room said you can't take a knee after the fresh set of downs. I think they know their numbers when it comes to clock management.
And the guys on Off the Ball pointed out that Oregon wouldn't do any indifferently (calling a timeout themselves just to get another TD against Michigan State).
The last 13 play calls were all runs... if they couldn't stop it, that's their problem.
