Game Thread 2015 National Championship Game: (2) Oregon vs. (4) Ohio State, Jan 12th @ 8:30p ET, ESPN

How has Oregon changed since the last time we played them? IIRC our lines controlled the LoS in that game. I would expect both of our lines to be better than they were back then, but I don't know how the Ducks compare. I haven't watched much of Oregon this year, but going in I would expect our inside running game to be better than it was last night. I think we match up better with a speed team than a power team, but I get the feeling this is going to be a shootout.

Really the only difference (and its a big one) I can see is Mariota can get them out of trouble when they get behind down and distance where Masoli was kind of all over the place on 3rd and long.

I don't even care what this means. I'm agreeing with it. ;D

In terms of perspective about the next game, I don't make predictions, but I do like to try to keep a balanced view: This is the same Oregon team that lost to Arizona.

Arizona.

They lost to RichRod's team.

They are nowhere near invincible.
We are a different team miss lassie. Ducks played wildcats second time and took care of business. Just like Buckeyes are different than Virginia tech game. Neither team is invincible. Sock sees a tough and good national championship. Sock won't be shocked to see Buckeyes win. Sock thinks turnovers are key to game. good luck from the sock!

Now that the Secessionists have received their well-earned foot up their ass, we turn our attention to OSU's opponent in the Title Game, the Oregon Nike. The Nike, led by head coach Phil Knight, sport uniforms that are alternately described as "ghastly' and "should be burned, buried and forgotten". Whichever the case, Oregon's hurry-up offense will present a serious obstacle for the 0-8 against Ohio State (or that only count for the SEC against OSU?). Nike's QB, Heisman-trophy-winning Marcus Mariota will be a huge test. Go Bucks.

Urban's post game last night was classic. He was told Oregon "won by forty" and he didn't know it ended that badly. How would he? It's not like he was watching it like we were here. His response: "Oregon won by 40? I gotta go. We gotta get to work," or something to that effect.

I hope the media spend the next 10 days telling our boys they're going to get boatraced. I think they'll respond well to that again.

So Urban knows Oregon's offense inside and out. Oregon probably knows the same about Ohio State. It's hard not to like the Oregon Ducks as team. Outside of Chip Kelly and his overpayment for out of date recruiting information (aka buying recruits) and Phil Knight, the Ducks are generally fun to watch and there's a reason why our coach wants part of their offense in his. However, I still like the power spread offense that Urban and Herman have built at Ohio State. Is Oregon finesse? No, but they don't have the commitment running between the tackles that Ohio State does.

X-factor is obviously Mariota. He's fast and generally accurate. I'm interested in what we show them on defense, because I'm generally concerned about our LBs and lack of speed outside of Lee and McMillan.

I'd like to see ball control and converting possessions into points. Ohio State (if none of the coaches or players) have been here and done that against Oregon. There's a blueprint to beating Oregon, and Ohio State has the personnel to do it.

Oregon got Tresselballed last time out more than anyone got Tresselballed before. Chip Kelly literally punted from from Ohio State territory on a 4th and 1 and lost the game. I think Ohio State and Urban Meyer can have similar success in controlling the ball and making the big plays where it counts.

Let's do it again.
