NDSU at noon on the four letter station.

FCS, not quite what I was hoping for, but it will do.

Ohio State football parents share season’s best moments

Gilda Spencer, mother of senior receiver Evan Spencer

Hometown: Vernon Hills, Ill.

“I guess I have two: One is the Rutgers game when Evan had a one-handed catch (for a touchdown) on my birthday weekend. That was kind of cool. And Tim (her husband and Evan’s father, an assistant coach with the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers) was there, too, because he had a bye that week. So that was pretty special.

“The other was Senior Day, when I was down on the field and sort of reflecting back to when we moved back to Columbus when Tim started coaching there (at Ohio State in 1994). Evan was a baby, and he slept through the whole game. So now, here he is, he’s had this amazing, remarkable career, and when he got introduced and ran on the field, he stopped and kissed the field.

“Oh, and then of course the Sugar Bowl was such an amazing game, when he threw the touchdown pass (to Michael Thomas). He told me earlier in the season that that was in the playbook, but I didn’t know when they might try it. I said, ‘Dude, if it’s not open, just run.’ Clearly, he didn’t listen to me; but it worked out.”
