2015 CFB Week 1 Open Thread

Tulane long snapper with the worst punt snap ever.

This morning when I went in to work a couple of homeless people were attempting, unsuccessfully, to have sex on the lawn of the building where I work. Now I'm watching Colorado and Hawaii try to play football and my day is ending like it began.

Well I have never laughed much harder than after I saw both of these posts, so now it is time for bed

But I thought Minny put up a pretty good effort...refs sort of screwed them on a few major calls but they had their opportunities and squandered them. I still think they will be pretty decent this year. I had a great time watching scUM lose to Utah...still 1,378 days since they beat us and I love it. And most importantly, Idaho managed not to get beat by the Ohio Bobcats by more than 50, which is a win by Vandal metrics. Not an awful night.

TCU is a very good football team, but that is not the second best team in the country. I think they get clipped at least twice. Oklahoma and Baylor will beat them. A mediocre 6-6 Big XII team that throws the ball all over the yard like Oklahoma St or Texas Tech could even make a game of it.

That's not me bagging on the "little sisters of the poor." This TCU team looks like it is missing something last years team had.
Agreed they are replacing 6 D starters.... .yeah they get clipped atleast once... although i heard on the Tejas mouthpiece radio how this was a "Good win" for them. This was after the guys on the same station in the afternoon said they wanted to see badly they rolled Minnesota

What we learned Thursday night:

South Carolina is basically fielding a high school football team. Ole ball coach looks set to retire.

Feel terrible for scooby, zona will struggle without him.

The directional ttun schools look like they could beat ttun.

Ttun will be really fun to watch this season.

Tcu can't play big boy football. Minny looked a lot bigger and stronger in the trenches and when they play any team that has that same size and can match the tcu speed (minny can't) they will get pummeled. They look like oregon only smaller.

I'd say they look about like most of us expected. Pretty good defense (though their lbs are very suspect in space) and an incredibly pedestrian offense. Wormley needs to take the next step and lead that dl. They are stout but lack explosion off the edge.

They grabbed rudock to avoid the disaster that is Shane Morris. Problem is that his ceiling is really low and now his floor is shockingly low as well. That was supposed to be his redeeming quality. He doesn't have much arm strength or mobility or big play potential, but he will take care of the football and be a game manager. Well instead of that they got the exact same bad decisions as Devin, just without the huge upside to counter it. I guess he didn't run backwards like Devin but he's also never going to scamper for a solid let alone big run when the power key collapses

The offense finally found a way to use darboh. He's not elite but he can make plays.

Butt is the only (old) Michigan caliber player on that offense right now. He's quite a weapon but limited when there is nothing else to respect (maybe darboh if they can figure out how to land deep ball a within his grasp?)

Tough to judge grant Perry. That first pick was his fault. Overall it would help to have a good possession wr to target as a safety valve instead of a shorter slot, some thin speedsters and the never ending ridiculousness that is the AJ Williams experiment.

AJ has never, ever been a tight end. He's always been an OL playing out of position, yet he hasn't been a very effective blocker either. Now they've taken it to a new level with rudock looking for him multiple times in traffic when things get dicey in the pocket. That is just asking for incompletions and turnovers.

The backs are just so flawed. DeVeon is tough but so slow and his vision is severely lacking. Green fools people with his bulk but he runs like Maurice wells. A little burst, goes down with minimal contact. Isaac looks overwhelmed. They desperately need Drake Johnson back from acl surgery. He is expected to return but at what level!?

The overreactions to TCU

It's one game people! Week one most of the teams come out rusty!

No one yesterday looked impressive, all 3 of the big games were [Mark May]shows
Well, it is a team that someone in the media said would break the all-time record for total offense. Nothing i saw yesterday said it was more than a top 15 team that has expectations on them, rather than hunger

Got a raging hard-on for being contrary recently?
Support for how close TTUN is to being good, and now this.
Just stating thing I think to be true. Someone has to play devils advocate anyways. Ready to hang* TCU after a game just doesn't seem logical to me. And I didn't say TTUN is close to being good just that they have two 4 star QB's in the works and slighty above average QB play will elevate them to 8ish wins.
