2015 CFB Playoff Summer Meetings (rule changes...etc)

True. And how ironic that the two top teams in the Big 12 are TCU and Baylor, teams Texas left in a lurch when breaking up the SWC and joining the Big 8, 10, 12, 11, 10... and teams they invited back into "their" conference when they needed a CCG. Don't see much about this over at Shaggy, just bitching about THE and dotting the i.

Oh, and try and put a CCG requirement on CFP as long as Notre Dame is around to grouse about equity.

Baylor was an original member of the Big 12. Maybe they were a late addition (I seem to remember some rumors about back-room politics).
I don't remember TCU being asked to join until the conference dropped from 10 to 8 (when TAMU and Mizzou left). TCU joining didn't help them get a new CCG. Or were they planning to join before TAMU and Mizzou announced they were leaving?
I heard this morning that the Big 12 will be allowed to have a conference championship game soon - this year or next? No requirements - conferences can have their games however they want. Any chance Texas requires that the CCG be Texas vs. whoever Texas chooses?

IIRC Baylor was not wanted in the Big Number by Texas or aTm, but they had powerful friends in Austin who campaigned for them until they got their way. At the time it was probably seen as delivering a football program that Kansas, K-State and Iowa State could beat on a regular basis.

Not to change the subject, but Texas has managed to destroy every conference in which it has been a member. You would have to be crazy to join that conference at this point in time. You reap what you sow.
If you're Cinci, CSU, UCF, Rice, Temple or any of the other mid-majors discussed ... you'd be insane to not take it while it's there.
They're not pulling anyone from the other 4 autonomous conferenced. That's why they had to go dumpster diving for WVU and TCU just to get back to 10.
That said the sooner they fail and stop using the Big10s branding back to WWI era the better. It's stupid having a big12 w/10 teams and big10 w/14.

I think you are saying that those schools are better off being Tejas' bitch that to stay where the are. I think that is debatable. I would bet that their monetary take from a mid-major conference is comparable to what they would get in the Big 12 after Tejas rapes and pillages the other members.

Travel stipends extended to CFP semifinals, too

Last year, amidst a mini uproar, the College Football Playoff announced that it would be helping families defray the costs of traveling to the inaugural championship game. Ahead of the start of the second season with a playoff system in place, that defraying has been extended.

The CFP announced in a press release “that it will expand its program to offset expenses for student-athletes’ parents or guardians to travel to the Playoff Semifinals this season.” A $2,500 stipend per student-athlete will be doled out to up to 100 families from each of the four semifinalists to help with expenses for hotel accommodations, travel and meals.

The $2,500 stipend per student-athlete family for the CFP championship game will remain in place as well.

“We were pleased to implement this expense-reimbursement program for the first College Football Playoff National Championship and we received warm and sincere positive feedback from the family members,” said Bill Hancock, executive director of the CFP, in a statement. “Extending support to the Playoff Semifinals will be another terrific benefit for folks who will be thrilled to be present to celebrate the accomplishments and experiences of their student-athletes.”
