NFL has seen it time and time again

10 or 11 win team doesn't get in but an 8-8 team that wins a division because someone has to

same here with OU and Stanford if anyone would have slipped up

best 4 teams is not top 4 conference champions

There have also been times when that 8-8 team got hot and won the Super Bowl (well, maybe 9-7, don't know the exact stats). They won the tournament but they aren't the best team throughout the year. No matter how you do it, sometimes you have a 'good' champion, sometimes you don't.

I would also be OK with an independent or a mid-major making it in over a low ranked conference champ. I just never like the idea of a national champion that's not even a conference champ. To me it diminishes both the national championship, making it nothing more than an end of season tournament, and the conference champ by making it less relevant.

I still say they are about brand names and money when it comes down to it but this years actions do have me wondering

Playoff games will make money and there are people on the committee with no financial stake. They've made it easy for themselves by putting a premium on conference championships, so when there are 4 of them (or Notre Dame) with 1 loss or less this is what we're going to get.

Watching this game is just making me mad. Of course, if we screw up tomorrow we won't be able to say much. I hope Sparty, OSU, and Iowa all win, then watch them spin it.
