Not sure what else will happen on the coaching carousel, but Houston's Tony Levine will be movin' on up.

Not that it matters much but I guess VT going to a bowl would make that loss slightly less inexplicable. Regardless, it's difficult to make an argument for the Buckeyes over TCU or Mississippi State with that loss in the Shoe. I know the reasons for it, but it's still a bad loss.

It's a bad loss, but that line of ESECPN reasoning only works if those other teams you listed don't have warts as bad, which they both do. Ohio State matches up with both of them.

There's nothing ESECPN about my reasoning, but it's cute of you to say so. Losing at home to Virginia Tech by 14 points is worse than losing by 3 at Baylor or 5 at Alabama, and it's not even close. I don't have scarlet and gray goggles thick enough to blind me from that fact.

The Buckeyes could play with either team, but that's not the world we inhabit. Teams will be selected based on body of work, and that loss is worse than either of theirs. Whether you or I like it is irrelevant.

But we also have better wins than those other schools...so I'll take that. We know we can win against a great team away from home...those schools don't. And we will get a chance to prove it again Dec 6. Those schools won't. I don't think there is any better way to show you deserve to play in a neutral field playoff...not a game back in September. I remember 15 years ago when it was all about who lost earliest. We would be ranked #2. Kind of like in 1998...we lost last, so we were out and FSU was in. We've won 9 in a row...going for 11...used to mean something. And we are equal enough to these other teams, if not better, that it should.

And 14 point loss was down 7 with the ball in their territory with a minute to go. So yes, as far as how the game played, you can't just look at the scoreboard. Miss State was dominated and NEVER had a chance to win. And TCU choked on applesauce. Not sure if losing like we did is worse. The tea, we lost to is worse, but at least we try and schedule challenging OOC opponents /rant

you're wanting to make it a pissing contest over who has the worst loss. That's ESPN all the way. Good going Frosty.
