"Now here's what I'm talkin' about. Turn around and look at that M*ch*g*n!"

"Now look at this sorry, miserable, squashed thing."

Update: Michigan is pulling the promotion immediately. Whether it really was an unauthorized promotion, that somehow surely passed by a number of desks before the material above saw the light of day, or if this is the result of NFL-style “reaction is bad, so let’s change direction” public relations remains to be seen.

Well, you gotta give the pizza man credit for this much: the best way to keep people from gawking at a dumpster fire is to stage a massive train wreck on the other side of the street.

Now, if that was for tickets to tsun vs. OSU, I'd have to consider switching pop brands. (Heck of a deal if you're a Minnesota fan.)

In fairness to Brandon, I can see how he arrived at this questionable decision.

After all, most everybody sells Coke with Pizza.

We have a pretty good Michigan poster over on one of the Wisconsin boards and he's obviously appalled at everything he's seen this season. He's been a pretty vocal critic of Brandon and Hoke from the get-go. Here's his take:

(Wisconsin poster):
"But listen to what Medic is saying. Hoke is not the right coach, Brandon is not the right AD to lead the department (he hired Hoke - for whomever brought up basketball, note that Brandon didn't hire Bielein). The new university president doesn't care about sports so long as they don't lose money. This is not the 'right' organization; it sure doesn't seem like a Shalala-Richter-Alvarez combination. Wanting to avoid twenty years of darkness is predicated on having someone on the bridge to actually turn the wheel, and I don't think Medic has any faith in those folks in charge."

(Michigan poster in response):
"This. Exactly this. Take it from someone who gets CONSTANT fucking fliers about donate to this school and help us build *that* stadium (most recently the new rowing facility request). The board is focused on getting the alums to build new facilities and not all of it for sports. The business school, the new genetics lab, the perpetual award winning energy and science facilities. THAT is what they are focused on. Football?! That is an after thought in most of their minds (I'm not saying this is a bad thing for them either btw).

The only way.....and I mean O N L Y way Brandon gets fired is if the athletic department runs a deficit and major donors start pulling their support of *academic* facilities as a result of watching something they grew up loving....die. I've voiced my displeasure with the Regents but I am a small time guy. They give exactly zero fucks when I complain. Now if Nick Costolo pulls his support, then....SOMEONE might listen. I don't see it happening. The Regents and the AD probably think everything is fine at Fort Michigan and this is all just a minor blip on the radar. What they don't understand is that Brandon has destroyed the brand, the culture of football Saturday. He has sucked the JOY out of something we all once loved and sacrificed it at the altar of higher margins and I despise him for it. The orgy of fly overs, Beyonce (what the fuck....seriously)-esque performances, the piped in rock music. I'm shocked there hasn't been a steady dose of "Sandstorm" just to make the stadium experience 100% douche.

Growing up with Michigan football was about as close to a secular religion as I've ever come, it was just part of what you did. That is gone now. Gone for an entire generation of kids and a generation of recruits none of whom remembers the last time Michigan was consistently relevant.

Those in charge do not have the clarity nor the will to do what should be done."

I truly, truly hope that $20 spring game tickets and a texting system to report people standing in front of you at the stadium aren't the harbinger of a slide into this type of over commercialized hell for Ohio State football.

I can't lie and say I'm not already concerned about it.

Sat in 28 C for the Va. Tech game. My impression of the night was that of a corporate event. Not a game of my beloved Buckeyes played in the world's most hallowed cathedral.
