Watson has made some epic pairing mistakes and not playing Phil and Keegan today was moronic. The U.S. talent is definitely lacking and we don't really have any intimidating players. I expected to get beat, but hoped we wouldn't get embarrassed.

Bri, cannot agree with NOT sitting Phil. He's not what he once was, and doesn't seem to have the 'drive' to excel. DO agree with Keegan, would have liked to see him tee it up. Fresh blood is always good. Who would you have re-paired? Was happy to see Furyk do well, as he's the 'oldie' of the group, but he's not a 'limelight' star, and wanted to prove it to the folk. He played well. I, as well, do not hold out any hope that the USA can overcome the deficit. Course looked USA green, instead of the usual brown of Britain, but the wind and chill took it's toll of our boys. Would be happy to eat crow if USA smoked the singles tomorrow.

I agree Phil isn't what he once was. At least one pairing of Phil and Keegan in the afternoon matches yesterday as they play well together would have made sense. I would have switched Ricky and Jim around today. Jim is one of the few guys who may have given Rory a match, just because he is so methodical. Right now our boys are missing some crucial putts and the Euros are draining them. Afraid a beat down is forthcoming. Be glad to eat my words.

I went out and found Phil's comments and I think they were spot on. I really think from player selection, team pairings, and match pairings Watson really shit the bed. While I do believe that the talent and experience on the Euro side was superior, this was a beat down. Phil knows this may be his last Ryder Cup and I believe he is really disappointed in not playing at least one session Saturday.

For years its always been the 'Mericans with the perceived superiority ... and the Europeans continually beat us down...so I don't really like or buy that as an excuse... go out and win.

Azinger used a pod system in which he put his 12 players into three groups of four prior to the event and kept them together through practice rounds and into the matches.
