2013 TSUN Football News

The bubble screen was there all freaking day long. Why Borges refuses to use it is beyond me. Ped was putting 8 guys in the box and their DB's were all playing a good 10 yards off the WR's. It was very frustrating watching it play out. Really not a fan of Borges after 2.5 years. I see no improvement on the offensive side of the ball. If anything, a steady regression.

Makes the Richrod look good? Richrod and Mattison would have been pretty good.

The problems with this scUM team go so far past Borges it's ridiculous. It doesn't matter what he calls when players just can't make a play. I'd make a lot more fun of 27 yards on 27 carries but what the hell are you going to do when your QB makes Tony Romo look clutch?

Borges isn't getting any help from his Baby Huey supposed first round draft pick LT who did his best Clowney impression on Saturday night. Kind of funny how the Michigan fanbase is unable to see certain players' roles in the team's losses.

Bingo. The fact that Borges has become the scapegoat for the PSU game shows how little the average Michigan fan knows about football.

wrong. we all know the o-line has played like shit, which in turn causes the running game to look like shit, which then causes the QB to look like shit. Basically, the offense has been a big ball of shit. There is not one scapegoat in regards to the product they are putting out there on the offensive side of the ball, there is a multitude of them.

Beating MSU in the big ten finale after beating UM in their home would be impressive. MSU is recognized as having the best D nationally, and by that time, they will have a good O. It would look better than beating MI in their home and then on a neutral field, even if you do it soundly. Lets beat Iowa first. One slip and we are done. Thats for sure.

Disagree. I believe they will give Bollman at least until the end of the season.

There's a lot of blame to go around, but a large chunk of it lays at Borges' feet. Their playcalling was pure walrusball saturday. They continue to run right into the line on 1st downs...it's comically predictable. And that isn't just a saturday thing...it's been going on all season. If you gave me that game-tape, I'd sware it was Bollman circa 2011 calling the plays. The bubble-screen was there all game long, begging to be called, but Borges flat-out refused to call it. The result is 30 carries for 28 yards from the RB. That is as damning a statistic as you'll find.

What are you supposed to do when your QB is Gardner? Throw?
If they can't trust him to throw a bubble screen or some slants, they might as well go with sugar shane and his merry bracelets. And it appeared through most of the 2nd half that they didn't, save a few big plays to Funchess (who with a good QB could be a monster). The result is opponents stacking the box and a boatload of "Toussaint straight ahead for no gain" plays. If they don't make some adjustments, and get Gardner straightened out, they could lose any/every game left on their schedule. Gardner has big play ability. The problem is, for every 40 yard TD to Funchess, he throws a stupid interception, or puts the ball on the ground. His biggest asset at this point is his legs, but they're clearly afraid of him getting hurt which would mean a shaky true freshman as their only other option.

For all the recruiting accoldes Hoke has received, in three classes, he has failed to recruit a competent backup qb, and his much praised OL recruits aren't even getting in over the chumps currently playing, or are performing poorly themselves. It also doesn't help that he still doesn't have a playmaker at the skill positions outside of Funchess (who cannot block a lick) or, to a degree, Gallon (A RR recruit). It all has a very "Charlie Weis" vibe to it. tOSU recruits unknown 3* kids and they become Kenny Guiton. scUM gets Russel Bellomy. What do you think scUM would give to have a Kenny G on their roster right now?
