I just got done riding 84 miles in preparation for an Ironman next month. Reading this thread, I just realized these fucks ride 116 to 138 miles during most stages...and these are on multiple consecutive days. Don't even think about asking me to ride 84 miles again tomorrow...

The best athletes in the world. And probably the worse cheaters/drug users. I've done 5 day tours and doing consecutive 50-60 mile days is rough. You can't eat enough and drink enough. And then there's the climbing which just kills you. :tongue2:

Disappointed in BB73 in not posting the odds as of yet. :sad2:

Seems to be only a few possible winners this year with Chris Froome being the heavy favorite.

With Wiggins skipping out b/c of injury, Froome will dominate the mountains as he was actually the better rider last year but rode to support teammate Wiggins.

Froome has had a strong 2013.

Other possible favorites in "my opinion" are Joaquim Rodriguez, Tejay van Garderen, Andy Schleck, and maybe Cadel Evans but feel he is over the hill. Richie Porte is a possiblilty if Froome gets injured or is forced to retire from the race.

Contador was GARBAGE in the Dauphine earlier this Spring and is not the same guy post PED's.

Sagan and Cavendish should be exciting in the sprints again with Stage 18, climbing Alpe d'Huez twice in the same day, deciding the Tour.

Can't wait for it to start tomorrow.

CRAZY stage today!

Orica GreenEdge bus gets stuck under the finishing line banner puncturing the air conditioning unit on the top of the bus and getting stuck there. Race organizers decide to make the finish line at 3km to go since the bus is stuck at the finish line.

Problem is 3km. to go is on a corner, bus gets dislodged and race organizers decide to tell riders that now finish will occur at the original finishing line.

Cavendish and Sagan go down in a crash with about 5km. left, Greipel has a mechanical issue so all 3 top sprinters are out for winning Stage 1 and Marcel Kittel crosses the line first.

What a shit show!

Not sure what would have been more fun - the finish that was shaping up before the bus got stuck, or what actually transpired. I am leaning towards the bus as an omen of a tumultuous tour.

Big fan of tumult.

Tomorrow should be interesting as there is lots of climbing so the sprinters will not rule. Maybe tommorrow we will see who the real contenders are. But, still it's very, very early. Amazing scenery!

Shame on all of you for no comments on the fantastic last two days of racing. :shake:

Froome today riding alone in the Peloton to hold on to the yellow jersey and one of the most exciting mountain stages I've watched in Stage 8 to Axe 3 Domaines yesterday.

You can tell we have a much cleaner Tour with few men being able to recover from yesterday's brutal pace.

Suffering at it's finest.

Well - since you shamed me into it.

The tour is different. There are 64 first time riders. That is a shit load.

Since this is the only race I watch it is nice to have more returning riders so I have a bit better sense of who is who. But if this is the price to be paid for cleaning it up I am all for it. And some of these youngsters are clearly here to stay.
