That's a pain in the buns
The 2013 Presidents Cup is being played in Dublin, OH at Murfield Village.

Anyone going? I'm looking for tickets to one day for me and my dad, but all I can find are all week passes for $210

I'll be there. My dad and I already got tickets for the week. Can't pass up one of the rare opportunities to see a great competition. Maybe Columbus will get a Ryder Cup at some point as well, which I would love to see.

It's very surprising to me that Columbus has such a big love for golf and there are tons of great courses, but none of them are big enough/hard enough to hold a PGA tournament. I'd love to see the city get another PGA caliber course.

The Golf Club, tOSU Scarlet, and [strike]probably Tartan Fields[/strike] possibly Pinnacle all have sufficient quality, difficulty and length to host PGA tournaments, but none (eh, maybe Pinnacle) have the associated supporting accouterments (clubhouse, space for grandstands and sponsor tents, spectator viewing opportunities). And The Golf Club, much like Pine Valley, wouldn't care to inconvenience itself for something as mundane as a golf tournament (and in Pine Valley's case at least, that includes a major tournament).

Unfortunately, you couldn't find a way for Scioto or Columbus Country Club (host of the 1964 PGA) to have enough length for a modern men's tourney, though Scioto will host the US Senior Open in 2016.

I think even tOSU Scarlet might be too short. Web.com plays there every year, and those guys are shooting pretty low numbers; can only imagine what the top pros would do. As you said The Golf Club is too "good" for a PGA tournament so that will never happen. It prides itself in how private it is.

I know Winding Hollow (formerly Tartan East) is doing some huge, like $5-10million, renovation to the course and property. They are not long enough now, but depending on how the renovation goes they might be. New Albany Country Club now owns the place, so I'm sure they will do something great. But once again, I don't think they have to space for grand stands and galleries.

Northstar is not the caliber of course that can attract a PGA tourny of any kind.

OSU Scarlett is over 7500 from the "Buckeye" tees, more than long enough.

Muirfield Village is the only course in the area that would not have to make major changes to host a major event. That being said, it will never be in the running for a PGA or a US open.

The Scarlet, although 7600 from the varsity tees / 'tips' is long enough, and one of the toughest college tracks in the nation, would not host any pro tournament, as the locker room facilities are too poor. The pros won't come. Also, security (not violent kind, but the sneaking inside kind) is not good, with only a small fence along Trabue Road and ? on the North side of the course. Don't remember who's said it, but not alot of room for grandstands to be placed around 18, and parking is atrocious (unless someone wants to sacrifice the Gray to park vehicles). Shuttle from the Riverside hospital? Cannot find a parking place there now.

By the way, is the 'new' Winding Hollow actually the old Winding Hollow, which was almost exclusively Jewish membership? Mostly because they couldn't join Columbus CC or Scioto (I seem to remember). I remember playing there as a guest, and using Charlie Lazuras's locker...good course, and well manicured.
