Got tickets for game 2 in Pittsburgh. Fuck the Islanders. I hope the Pens beat them 15-0 every game. It's a better story to me when the Islanders are in the cellar. :)

So far so good. 4-0 Pens in the second. Nabakov pulled less than two minutes into the second period. Pens power play looks very good, Islanders look very bad.

Last nights results:

Game 3 - Washington Capitals 3 @ New York Rangers 4
Washington came in with a 2-0 series lead & got on the board first early in the first period courtesy of a Nicklas Backstrom tip off a John Carlson shot from the point. Brian Boyle responded for New York halfway through the first with some nifty work down the right side just as the PP was about to expire. New York would add another early in the 2nd on another PP as Derick Brassard sniped one top left shelf after some nice work by Mats Zuccarello to find him open. Mike Green tied things up for Washington late in the 2nd with a snipe of his own top right shelf through a screen of New York players. New York found themselves back in front early in the third after Derick Brassard found an open Arron Asham in front of goal for the finish. Washington evened things up again halfway through the third after Jay Beagle's deflection found Lundqvist napping after a quick faceoff win. New York got the eventual game winner courtesy of a beautiful backhanded tip from Derek Stepan right in front of goal after Rick Nash found him in great position. New York finally got on the board in the series & will look to even things up on Wednesday at Madison Square Garden. Washington leads series 2-1.

Game 3 - Boston Bruins 5 @ Toronto Maple Leafs 2
Toronto was hosting there first home playoff game since '04 & did they ever disappoint the Maple Leaf faithful. After evening up the series at 1-1 in Game 2, they were embarrassed at home in Game 3. Adam McQuaid opened the scoring for Boston with a shot from the point after a faceoff win that went through the legs of a Toronto player fooling James Reimer. Jaromir Jagr picked Ryan O'Byrne's pocket behind the Toronto net & found an open Rich Peverley for the easy put away to give Boston a 2-0 lead in the game. Jake Gardiner would respond for Toronto on the PP halfway through the 2nd after a failed clearance by Boston found him in great position for the finish. Boston would get a third barely a minute later as Milan Lucic beat his man & found an unmarked Nathan Horton at the far post, who ended up roofing it & getting it stuck in the twine. Boston would get a fourth shorthanded right before the end of the 2nd after some terrible passing from Phil Kessel & Dion Phaneuf at there own blueline found them turn the puck over, only for Daniel Paille to steal it & backhand it off the post and in. Toronto would respond early in the 3rd on the PP after a scramble in front found Phil Kessel with a wide open net. Boston would bury the game with an David Krecji empty netter & take the series lead heading into Wednesday's Game 4 from the Air Canada Centre. Boston leads series 2-1.

Game 4 - Anaheim Ducks 2 @ Detroit Red Wings 3.
Anaheim would take the lead early in the first after some resilient work from Matt Beleskey found himself not giving up on the play & eventually putting it away. Brendan Smith tied things up for Detroit early in the 3rd with a blast from the point through a plethora of bodies in front of Hiller. Anaheim took the lead again halfway through the third after a scramble in front found Jimmy Howard blocked by his own player & David Steckel had a completely wide open net to bury it. Pavel Datsyuk tied it for the Wings with a splendid effort that ended up sniping the water bottle and taking the game to OT. Detroit would get the game-winner late in OT as Joakim Andersson found a streaking Gustav Nyquist all alone & despite his first touch being too far, Hiller hesitated & allowed him to get to it. Nyquist didn't get much of a shot off, but the race for the puck resulted in Hiller being knocked off his line by his own player & Damien Brunner had a wide open net to bury the game winner. Series evened up heading back to Anaheim for Game Five on Wednesday night. Series Tied at 2-2.

Game 4 - St. Louis Blues 3 @ Los Angeles Kings 4.
David Backes would open the scoring for St. Louis after Jay Bouwmeester's shot wide of the post found him with a completely wide open net barely a minute into the game. Blues would grab a 2nd on the PP only three minutes later as Kevin Shattenkirks rocket of a shot from the point was neatly tipped in by T.J. Oshie. L.A. would respond five minutes later as Mike Richards was streaking down the left wing boards & did well to find Jeff Carter alone in front of goal for the neat finish. L.A. evened things up on the not-so-fair 3-on-1 after some beautiful touch passing from Alec Martinez & Jarret Stoll found Dustin Penner. T.J. Oshie would put St. Louis back on top after roofing home a rebound shot from Vladimir Sobotka. Kings would even it up again halfway through the third as Dustin Brown did a tremendous job to keep the puck alive & find Anze Kopitar in great position for the tying goal. L.A. would get the crucial go-ahead & eventual game-winner barely a minute later as Justin Williams tremendous tip down of a Mike Richards shot beat Brian Elliott to even the series heading back to St. Louis for Game Five on Wednesday. Series tied at 2-2.

Tonight's games:

Game 4 - Pittsburgh Penguins @ New York Islanders - 7:00 pm ET - NBC Sports Network. Pittsburgh leads series 2-1.

Game 4 - Montreal Canadiens @ Ottawa Senators - 7:00 pm ET - CNBC - Ottawa leads series 2-1.

Game 4 - Chicago Blackhawks @ Minnesota Wild - 9:30 pm ET - NBC Sports Network - Chicago leads series 2-1.

Game 4 - Vancouver Canucks @ San Jose Sharks - 10:00 pm ET - CNBC - San Jose leads series 3-0.

If you want to watch some bad blood hockey, I highly recommend checking out the Montreal-Ottawa game tonight. I'm sure there's going to be some animosity stewing from what happened in Game 3 on Sunday. If you want a taste, here you go.

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-qBBvM9AIs"]Full line brawl - Montreal Canadiens vs Ottawa Senators . May 5. 2013 - YouTube[/ame]

Not every day you see full line brawls. Oh and I forgot the mention there's the whole "Ottawa called a timeout up 6-1 with 17 seconds left in the game" deal going on too.

20 years since what appeared to be a shoe in Stanley Cup winning Penguins team got bounced by Ray Ferraro, Darius Kasparaitis and the Islanders. Can't believe that was 20 years ago.

Don't see that happening this year. F the Islanders.

Wouldn't be surprised one bit to hear that the whole city of Toronto was burned to the ground by tomorrow morning.

Looking back on my First Round predictions, I went 3-4 in the Western Conference with one correct game total & one correct game total with the wrong team. The Eastern Conference was a different story as I went 1-4, although I had one correct game total with the wrong team. 4-8 isn't bad at all for playoff predictions as it's easily the most unpredictable in all of sports.

Let's take a gander at the 2nd round now.

Eastern Conference.

#1 Pittsburgh Penguins - #7 Ottawa Senators.

Game 1 - Ottawa Senators @ Pittsburgh Penguins - Tonight: 7:30 pm ET - NBC Sports Network

Pittsburgh was certainly challenged by the Isles in the first round & will find no respite in the Sens. Ottawa handled Montreal in five, but not without a fight of there own. Ottawa probably won't give Pittsburgh as many problems as New York did offensively, but there strength lies in there defense & goaltending. If Craig Anderson plays like he's capable of, he could give Pittsburgh's plethora of offensive talent fits all series. This is a real battle of powerful offense (Pittsburgh) vs. powerful defense (Ottawa) that should be very competitive. Pittsburgh swept the season series 3-0. Verdict: Pittsburgh in six. Too many weapons for Ottawa to handle, despite having one of the games best goalies. If Craig Anderson gets hot though, Pittsburgh could be in real trouble.

#4 Boston Bruins - #6 New York Rangers.

Game 1 - New York Rangers @ Boston Bruins - Thursday: 7:30 pm ET - NBC Sports Network

What a series this is going to be. Two very physical teams, so expect some rough & tumble hockey. Both teams went seven games in the first round, so both will still be battered. New York only won one game on the road against Washington, but that was in Game 7 & Boston only won two games at home against Toronto, but one was in Game 7. New York won the season series 2-1, but both Rangers wins came in shootouts. This is going to be a very unpredictable series as both teams match up pretty evenly across the board & despite Boston being the better team IMO, they're very inconsistent even within the same game. I would expect some low-scoring affairs in this one. Verdict: Boston in seven. They're a better team, but are capable of letdowns time & again. New York's consistency was even worse all season, but played there hearts out to beat Washington. Two great goalies, but if Hank keeps playing like he did in the last two games, New York has a chance. Will Rick Nash show up ?

Western Conference.

#1 Chicago Blackhawks - #7 Detroit Red Wings

Game 1 - Detroit Red Wings @ Chicago Blackhawks - Wednesday: 8:00 pm ET - NBC Sports Network

Hockey gods couldn't have scripted it any better with Detroit & Chicago squaring off in an Original Six match up that could be the last for many years as Detroit moves to the East next season. Chicago will be much more rested after ousting Minnesota in five games, while Detroit took seven to make work of Anaheim. Chicago will win this series as they're a much better & deeper team, but Detroit will make it a lot tougher for them than most would think. Detroit still has a lot of question marks on the back end & Chicago will exploit that, but Detroit has nothing to lose in this as all of the pressure is on Chicago to win the Stanley Cup. I think every game will be close, but ultimately Chicago should prevail given how good they are top to bottom. Verdict: Chicago in six. Detroit will push them harder than they expect, but they get the most from every player on the team & there third and fourth lines will be too much to handle. Jimmy Howard is hot right now & could give Chicago fits. Expect a very hard fought series.

#5 San Jose Sharks - #6 Los Angeles Kings

Game 1 - Los Angeles Kings @ San Jose Sharks - Tonight: 10:00 pm ET - NBC Sports Network

The defending Stanley Cup Champions and the perennial playoff choke artists. Despite that, this has the makings of being an incredible playoff series. Two very skilled & very physical hockey clubs. Only difference being that San Jose falls apart in the playoffs on a regular basis & it remains to be seen when that will change. Don't expect much scoring despite the capabilities of both teams, because both are tremendous on defense & have great goalies. I only think L.A. will win because San Jose has no playoff pedigree, because San Jose is just as good if not better than them. This is right there with Boston-New York as the best 2nd round match up from a sheer competitive perspective as both teams are pretty even across the board. Verdict: Los Angeles in seven. San Jose is well rested after sweeping Vancouver & L.A. played one of the most physical series ever played against St. Louis. Quick is playing tremendously right now & L.A. goes where he takes them as they don't score very much. San Jose will find a way to lose like they always do, but expect the most competitive series of the entire 2nd round here.

Anyone else feel free to throw out any predictions ? Playoff Hockey is the most unpredictable of all the sports, so it's nearly impossible to be completely accurate no matter how much you watch the game.

Dodger Stadium is not exactly a traditional "winter classic" venue:

Dodger Stadium Winter Classic tickets selling at record clip

Tickets for the most off-the-wall outdoor game on the NHL's 2013-14 season schedule are apparently selling like gangbusters. The league has notified the Los Angeles Kings, hosts of the first of four Stadium Series outdoor games, tickets are "selling at a record clip, faster than any of the previous Winter Classics or (outdoor) games." A day after the Dodger Stadium game, the New York Rangers and New Jersey Devils will play out of Yankee Stadium. Then, on January 29, the Rangers will again entertain at Yankee Stadium, this time welcoming the New York Islanders. To close out the four-game series, the Chicago Blackhawks meet the Pittsburgh Penguins at Soldier Field in Chi-Town.
