Glad to see NFL referees are taking this blow to the head stuff seriously. Luck just got whacked right in the head by sa defender and surprise no call.

The greatest?Payton Manning is a goddamned machine. Seriously, he is not human.
Seen enough of him to say he is. A Super Bowl this year and it's a wrap.

His limited post season record will always haunt him. This year is a chance to right that. But to be playing at the level he is in his late-thirties is super human shit. Not ready to put him above Montana yet (who is still the greatest, IMO), but if he breezes through this season and wins a SuperBowl, he might get the nod from me.
Statistically, I'd say he is the greatest. But for stone cold clutch performances, it's hard to top Joe Cool.

Though, on the other hand he's also setting himself up for a pretty big disappointment if he falls short again.

But, yeah. We'll see how he does in January. He is on his way to the greatest regular season for any player ever by a large margin right now. There's just no stopping him. He's just playing in rarified air.

Hardest thing for Peyton is that he has never played on a team that has had a defense that can stand up. He usually is in the position of having to engineer a drive to win the game for the team.

He had some pretty good defenses in Indy. Not great, but good. Their 2005, 2007, & 2008 were top ten defenses. Oddly enough, the year they won the SB, their defense was pretty mediocre.

So, the other two years they were 11th in total defense, but Top-7 in scoring defense. Semantics, really. They were very good defenses.

I remember an often injured Bob Sanders and a Freeney who played about every other play. A lot of bend but don't break, Tampa 2 BS and Peyton leading a 4th Qtr comeback in many many games.

Huh. I just went with total defense and assumed. That said, I vividly remember their defense being a liability. Stats say they we're good. I remember hearing compliments during their Super Bowl season how they stepped up against the run. What was the rush defense for those teams? Out of curiosity. All I remember is them beating up on an incredibly weak AFC south then struggling against better opponents.
