2013 NFL Week 1 Open Thread

So, I see no better place to start this discussion, but is anyone else surprised by TP starting for the Raiders in week 1? I'm really happy for the guy, and I'll definitely be watching the game. There ought to be a sportsbook on how many games he'll start.

Surprised a little- in that the Raiders are actually making the better move. He will provide a plausible chance at winning, which is better than the snowball's chance they had with anyone else back there.

I think he can put up some stats against the Colts Week 1. It may be ugly, but I envision some decent yards (ground and air).

My quick observation on the return of Pro footbaw-

The game at this level is so sooo much cleaner- the blocking, tackling, coverage, punting/kicking.

At least, it is between 2 good teams. Clowns will look sloppy. No doubt.

53 * 32 = 1,696.

In essence, NFL football has distilled the game to the 1,696 biggest, baddest, strongest, fastest humans, from a pool of tens of thousands, to come out of the college ranks over the past 20 years.

The things that always fascinate me about NFL games are the speed, precision, and violence of the collisions.
