2013 B1G/ACC Challenge

Yeah, I'd say the Minnesota win was the one good surprise for the B1G. Gophers look like a team that can be competitive in in the B1G this year since the league is down a bit from the past couple of years. PSU was more competitive than was expected as well.

Certainly MSU was at the top of the list for most disappointing Big Ten team. To me, Northwestern was also a disappointment because they got run out of the gym, but I guess that is to be expected somewhat because they're supposed to bring up the rear in the league. Indiana was also a disappointment to some degree.

I was disappointed in NW also. They have had such a habit of being a pain in the butt for the some of the best OSU teams over the last 10 years, so I thought they could give NCSU a game.

I don't think PSU is too bad. With Frazier back, Newbill, and a couple of other solid players they might be a solid NIT team.

Yeah, you could be right re: PSU being an NIT team. They have exceeded my expectations thus far, though I had no expectations of them putting together a winning mark before the season. Losing Jermaine Marshall may be the difference between having what would've been an NCAA tourney team and what turn out to be an NIT team. Tim Frazier is a terrific leader and his ability to command his team and do it all is impressive - no doubt a 1st Team All-Big Ten player this year, IMO.
