On one hand its hard for me to believe an NFL team can choke this big of a lead away in one half of football.

I guess I'm just old because I miss the days when football wasn't a race to 50 points. Arena Football was ahead of its time, where 1 or 2 stops is usually all you need to win the game. They have been doing that since the 80s.
