2012 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

so you guys are at 25 right now, right? How many do you have room for?
With 5 enrolled early, meaning 20 in this class.

Diggs & Neal are the only targets left and no longer as much of a longshot.

They have room for more with upcoming transfers, which will mean a larger 2013 class.

6 in early (Jones, Thomas, Perry, Boren, Powell, and Dunn). Dodson's commit puts us at 83 scholarships for next year, still figuring in Jaamal Berry. There will be plenty of room.

Thanks, left out Thomas.

OSU had 0 reliable WRs last year.
OSU had 0 defensive ends they trusted last year (with Williams out).

It's not a stretch to see spots open up. It's a stretch to see everyone happy with riding the pine (not just at those positions), especially with a bowl ban coming up and a major regime change.

Exactly how I see it (minus perhaps Devin Smith seeing as how he contributed so much as a freshman). Are there players at those spots already here who could step it up and play great football? Yes. But you can't assume everyone will and at those positions, you have to assume some freshmen will step it up with the class we just landed (especially if we land one of Diggs or Neal). It will be an interesting VBet on who redshirts next season/projected depth chart at those positions.

I enjoyed reading the Plain Dealer's accounting:
http://www.cleveland.com/osu/index.ssf/2012/02/ohio_state_recruiting_class_at.html

Those 25 additions, plus the publicly known roster of 59 returning players, put Ohio State at 84 scholarship athletes. With the Buckeyes docked three scholarships a year for the next three seasons because of NCAA sanctions, 82 is the number Ohio State is limited to for this season, 2013 and 2014.

However, Ohio State does not have to be at 82 players right now. So there may be room to add a recruit like highly-rated receivers Stefon Diggs from Maryland or Davonte Neal of Arizona. Both Diggs and Neal are expected to announce their choices after signing day. Before the Marcus and Dodson choicees were made official, OSU coach Urban Meyer said on ESPNU "we're maybe sitting on one or two left."
Maybe Diggs and Neal will feel each other's pressure?

The "St Valentine's Day Massacre" is still coming up:

I believe I have heard of one additional fullback who might transfer (???) and then there is Berry (as noted above).
