  • I know the FedEx Cup is on the verge of playing its playoffs. I mean heck they even have the BMW here in Indy this year. But, nothing gets me charged up like the Ryder Cup. This time around the classic battle with the Euros is being held at venerable Medinah Country Club.

Now that the PGA is over the top 8 American players are set with Captain DLIII and his Co-Captains Couples Freddy and Mike Hulbert.

    Automatic qualifiers include:
    Tiger
    Bubba
    Jason
    Keegan
    Webb
    Zach
    Matt
    Phil

On the outside looking for a Captains selection are:

    Stricker
    DJ
    Hunter
    Rickie
    Furyk

This is an interesting and mostly inexperienced American team and I would not be surprised to see Davis pull in some experienced Ryder Cuppers like Stricker. Rickie, Hunter and DJ all brought in 1 point and Furyk only brought in a 0.5 point in 2010. FedEx Cup performance will most likely be an influence on the selections.

    Euro team later.....

Need some veteran leadership. Furyk over Rickie IMO

The Euros....Here they come to defend their 2010 Ryder Cup Victory led by Captain Jose Maria Olazabal (you gotta spit when you say that). Clarke, Borjn, and McGinley serve as his Vice Captains (feeling evil empire here).

The Euros have a little different way of going about picking their players. They use a combination of points from the European and World Points lists. Right now the top 10 is still out. The following are definitely going to be in:

    Rory boy
    Justin Rose
    Graeme
    Luke Donald

    Others looking like locks:
    Paul Lawrie
    Francesco Molinari
    Peter Hanson
    Lee Westwood
    Martin Kaymer

    Those looking in:
    Nicolas Colsaerts
    Sergio
    Ian Poulter

If you are a golf fan and you have never been to the Ryder Cup, I would highly recommend putting it on your bucket list. I went back in 2008 when it was at Valhalla in Louisville and it was just incredible.

I have been to pro tournaments before including the Memorial and the BMW to name a couple and let me tell you there is no comparison in terms of excitement and crowd craziness. The Euros they do travel and they come fired up and in costume. It is a sight to behold and their singing while it can be a bit annoying is a highlight I won't forget.

+1. Was at Oakland Hills in '04. Unlike anything I've ever been to before or since... that involved golf anyhow. Great time.

Please would have been live 4 selections

On Tuesday in New York City, Davis Love III took no time in announcing the four new members of the United States Ryder Cup team.

As expected, Love mixed in a little bit of experience, a little bit of power and a little bit of momentum to his team, adding Steve Stricker, Jim Furyk, Dustin Johnson and Brandt Snedeker to the eight players who automatically qualified after the PGA Championship.

Here are the full rosters for both the United States and Europe.

I am pretty much in agreement with the selections. I may have chosen Hunter over Furyk though. I feel like Hunter just has more game than Jim and can get really hot and go low at times. He looked like he was starting to put it back together again. While Jim has great experience and is usually a steadying influence, he has really faltered down the stretch this year when he has been in position to win.

    Bri,
Furyk is a chess move. DLIII will put him with the best swing(er) on the European team. Furyk's spastic swing will upset the Euro so much that by the 15th, he'll be down 3 to Jim, so we won't have to worry about Furyk's faltering/choking on the last few holes! +1 to the Americans

For the team matches, he'll be paired with Tiger, as Tiger is so focused (on his swing and the babes behind the ropes) that he won't notice Furyk's erector set swing. +1 to the Americans

:gobucks3::gobucks4::banger: However, I do like putting a young talent like Rickie with a veteran, and hope the newbie catches fire.....actually Nick Watney might be best, and he's a local boy....

    Bri,
About the above post......uhhhh.....my bad. It may have been a chess move, but that move led to checkmate by the Brits.....next time I'll vote along with you to go with the young'uns that don't know fear (or collapse). Hit 'em long and straight (and not too often).
