The past two weeks the defense has improved a lot. That's good for us and very bad for those on the schedule! (now if we can just get that little punt block problem fixed............)

CB Bradley Roby said simplified schemes have a lot to do with the improved defense the last two weeks.

Kinda interesting and surprising, since most of the defense was around last year. However, all is well that ends well!

Something Ross Fulton at elevenwarriors.com has pointed out is that at the beginning of the year, OSU had 2 or 3 different base defenses. It was confusing the secondary about whose assignments were whose.

The past two weeks the defense has improved a lot.

And - - - as of Nov. 1st, there appears to be plenty of room for improvement:

Ohio State ranks eighth in the Big Ten in scoring defense (24.1 points a game), ninth in overall defense (389.6 yards a game) and last in passing yards allowed (277.9 yards a game).

Shocked! I tell ya - I'm shocked! :(

Nine wins, no losses. That kind of dominates my awareness, personally.

Secondary play.

Roby leads the nation in PBUs by a significant margin. CB play isn't the issue. not having healthy linebackers is. except with the coaches shuffling the lineup to get Shazier, Boren and Nathan Williams on the field sa our LBers seems to have largely alleviated that problem. not to mention, the coaches have settled on a base defense now, instead of trying to run multiple base sets.
