2012 Big East Tournament

Holy crap!

Sims, G'town's center just beat two guys off the dribble from the top of the key for a buzzer-beating layup to send this thing to double OT.

That was a great play for a big guy.

Hell of a game. Not a Big East fan, but this tournament is always entertaining.

They almost did it right. Gates scored at 46 seconds, then GTown scored with 28.7 left.

Cincy had the 2-for-1, but they scored a little early, with 7.6 seconds left.

Perfect situation for CIncy to do a 2-for 1.

Tied at 1:02, called a timeout.

Will they get the 2-for-1? I wouldn't bet on it.

I think college teams seldom try for it for a reason. In many instances I don't think it's because they don't recognize the situation, it's that on the whole, college players lack the composure to do something like that within their regular offense. That final Georgetown possession was a good example of the kind of possession you'd see on a lot of front ends of 2-for-1 attempts is college teams tried it more often. They had plenty of time, but somehow less than they seemed to think. They struggled to get into a play and ended up with a poor shot.

I think most coaches would prefer to take their time and get one good shot than rush and get one or two looks that probably won't be as good.
