6th is certainly a solid finish for the Lady Bucks and probably their best performance of the year, but you have to think that this team should have been 4th at worst. Thomas was solid all year and ran well here, though I think she still have more in the tank based on her fantastic HS career. 25th for Wagner, while all-region, was not a great run, considering she finishes 7th in this race as a freshman. As for Brink and Hilton, they finishes 19th and 20th last year, respectively, and both qualified for Nationals. Brink has struggled all year, so this was a better run, and maybe injury was an issue. Regardless, coming into the season I thought it was reasonable to expect that these four would finish top 25 in the region and then hoped that a 5th would emerge. No strong 5th really did, though Borchers ran well at regionals. I am hopeful that next year Thomas, Hilton, and Wagner all really click here, as I think OSU should put 3 in the top 20 with ease.

Ohio State’s Alexis Thomas won her second straight Big Ten title in the hammer throw at the Big Ten track and field outdoor championships at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.

Thomas’ throw went 210 feet, 7 inches, nearly 11 feet farther than her competition.

The Buckeyes are in fourth place after two events with 10 points, eight behind leader Wisconsin. The Badgers’ Caitlin Comfort set a stadium record in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 33 minutes, 30.16 seconds.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s track and field team saw its season come to an end Thursday afternoon at the 2013 NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore.

Senior Ashlee Abraham was the only Buckeye with remaining events heading into Thursday as she competed in the 200m semifinals. The Detroit, Mich., native used a personal-best time of 23.40 to earn Second Team All-America honors, finishing sixth in her heat and 16th overall. LSU’s Kimberlyn Duncan finished with the top time of 22.15, as the top eight competitors moved on to Saturday’s final.

“In order to be in the finals you have to bring you’re A-game and I just don’t think we were quite strong enough this weekend,” Karen Dennis, head coach of Ohio State women’s track and field said. “National’s are tough and our girls are finding that out, but I really think this experience will pay dividends for next season and beyond for many of them.

“I couldn’t ask for much more from Abraham today as she put up a PR in the 200, and I feel Katie Borchers ran great in the 800 yesterday as well for it being her first time here. When I finally do take a moment to reflect on this season I think we will find that a lot of great things happened. We will continue to work hard to be stronger and deeper as we move forward.”
