2011 tOSU Football Discussion

Check-in only lasted five minutes. The freshman all arrived at once on a bus. Still a few noteworthy things.

Crowell is at home (I assume in Maryland) recovery from surgery and is out indefinitely.

Carter does carry his weight well and while conditioning will obviously be a concern, it is far from a long term issue in my opinion.

Curtis Grant and Tommy Brown were walking side by side, they looked about the same size, Grant is huge (in a good way).

More later when I get home.

Being that it literally only lasted 5 minutes (one busload doesn't take very long to unload), there isn't much more to report from today other than what I already mentioned. Here is what I came up with though:

Freshmen Check-In Recap and Rumblings

  • There were 22 scholarship freshmen and 2 invited walk-ons reporting today. The 22 scholarship players did not include Conner Crowell (surgery) and Cardale Jones (prep school).
  • One of the biggest stories (literally) heading into fall camp is Chris Carter Jr.?s weight. Having seen him in person, there is no doubt that he a a large person, but he carries the weight well. Conditioning will likely be an issue early in his career, but like Johnathan Hankins last season, if he can keep his weight under control, he looks like a future beast on the inside of the offensive line.
  • Conner Crowell is at home (I assume in Maryland) still recovering from off season surgery. He is out indefinitely and it is unknown whether he will report for fall camp at all.
  • LB Curtis Grant and OL Tommy Brown were walking side by side and they both appeared to be about the same size. Curtis grant is huge (in a good way).
  • Assistant Athletics Communications Director Jerry Emig reported that Ohio State now has approximately 288,000 square feet of practice space following the latest renovations that the team will begin taking advantage of on Monday.

jwinslow will have photos and hd video of the event, which is obviously much more noteworthy than any actual notes from the event, so I hope that helps at least a little bit to hold us all over until he gets those posted.

Great stuff jwins and 86!

As I'm winding down my schooling, these pics remind me of my first day on campus. Then I remember these kids are stepping into a lot more responsibility than I ever had to endure. I'm excited for all of them and excited to finally get some football.

Go Bucks!

Okay, so maybe Tommy Brown is a little bit bigger than Curtis Grant, not by much though.

Someone may need to introduce the longsnapper (Haynes) to Burger King or Catfish Biff's or something (Thumanator?)

J/K. Actually, he'll fill out eventually (185 will be 220 or so eventually).

I can't say that I have ever seen two 18 year olds look like Carter and C. Grant. They are the definition of "man-child." I can see where Carter could lose some pounds, but I believe he could could play at 360 for sure...
