He'll be a true junior next year with both years at TE, there's no way he will end up an OT at OSU with only 2 years left IMO...

Way Too Early Look: 2011 TEs and FBs

Tight ends and fullbacks are two positions on a football team that are often under appreciated, if not downright forgotten (guilty). However, they can be the glue that holds a successful offense together.

Whether it be adding a little extra muscle in the run game or providing an outlet pass for the quarterback, tight ends and fullbacks do the dirty work that makes an offense run. The Buckeyes feature some highly experienced, highly talented players at these positions in 2011 who should do a fine job doing just that.

Early in the season, their experience and play making will be relied on even more as some of the other offensive personnel serve their suspensions.

Love having a great tight end. Stoneburner could be a Dudley type guy if the offense opens it up some. Fragel surprised me with his straightline speed and everyone knows he's a very huge asset on the goal line. Could be something special this season, especially when we dont have the dominating WR's that we like to have.

You have to think that with the inexperience we have at QB and WR that the RB's and TE's are going to be a much more strategic part of the passing game this year, especially early on.

Jake Stoneburner heard the question last week about whether Ohio State?s tight ends will be featured more prominently this season, and he smiled.

?I think I get that question every year,? the junior said.

No doubt he does. And then, whatever hope that it might actually happen usually fades as passes to the tight end become a largely forgotten part of the Buckeyes offense.

A converted receiver from Dublin Coffman, Stoneburner caught 21 passes last year. Backup Reid Fragel had only nine receptions.

But this year the tight ends group might be too good and deep to not be featured, both in the run and pass games.

?We like to think we?re one of the best in the country,? Stoneburner said of the tight ends. ?Me and Reid, we?ve been on the field and made some plays. And both the freshmen coming in are unbelievable athletes.?
