2011 Preseason and Regular Season Polls

OSU is still getting a single vote in the Coaches' poll.

The rest of the B1G:

5 - Wisky
11 - scUM
15 - Nebraska
16 - Fightin' Zookers
20 - Sparty

Others receiving votes: State Penn and Iowa, for a total of eight teams.

For reference, the South Will Rise Again conference has #2, #3, #12, #14, #18, #23 and one more receiving votes, for a total of seven teams, and the Big 12-2 also has seven teams, five in the poll and two "others receiving votes".

Alabama should be the #1 ranked team in the country, if the polls had an sense.

Their resume is better than LSU, they are statistically better than LSU in most categories, they have a better offense and better special teams.

Oklahoma, aside from passing yards, isn't even in the same neighborhood.

I still think LSU's resume is better, but Saturday was very impressive. Certainly, LSU and Alabama are the two best teams in the country right now.

I don't know.

It might be SEC bias, but I think Penn State, Arkansas, Florida > Oregon, Mississippi State, West Virginia.

Oregon and Mississippi State were definitely over-rated at the time LSU played them, and West Virginia hasn't beaten anyone.

Penn State was definitely over-rated at the time Alabama played them.

I guess it's debatable either way, but statistically, Alabama is ahead of LSU by a pretty good margin in most categories. The only one close is Points For, and even that one Alabama leads.

Penn State doesn't even belong in the same conversation as the rest of those teams this season. They eked out wins against Temple and Indiana here recently. If not for our woes, everyone in Big Ten country would be talking about how pathetic Penn State is this year.

Frankly, even though Oregon was probably overrated coming into the season, I still think they're the best team on that list.

Alabama is disgusting. They beat Florida worse than they beat us, and did it at Florida. Beat them, crippled their QB and then left with their dates.

Just like they did with us, they PUNISH receivers for catching the ball. They pound QBs. They pound defenses.

LSU is good, but I like Alabama's run game against LSU more than I like LSU's against Alabama. Plus, it is at Alabama.

Nobody is beating them this year.

That may be the key. I do like Alabama at home, but I like LSU in Death Valley.

A very, very sick part of me would like to see the OSU offense against the Bama or LSU defense just to see how bad it would get.

I'm surprised Arkansas QB Tyler Wilson was still in one piece after the pounding he took.

Florida QB John Brantley wasn't so fortunate. He's out for at least (vs. LSU in Red Stick) one game with a high ankle sprain.
