2011 NFL Draft (Mocks, Eval, etc)

God, it was fun watching Barry Sanders run...

Indeed. When Goodell announced him, I had to go back and look up who was drafted ahead of him. Tony Mandarich went #2 in a top 5 that featured Troy Aikman, Barry Sanders, Derrick Thomas and Deion Sanders. I'm sure the Packers aren't still thinking about that one, but damn... That's the Darko Milicic of the NFL right there.

What Berman just said about Boise States field being blue and maybe putting blue turf at Ford Stadium so he could run around is the dumbest fucking thing I have ever heard on television.
Keep watching, I have five bucks he tops that in the next 20 minutes.

2011 - Nick Fairley, Titus Young
2010 - Ndamukong Suh, Jahvid Best
2009 - Matt Stafford, Brandon Pettigrew, Louis Delmas (good safety if you don't get to watch much)

That is how to build a team. Lions are going to be really good in two years. Young should be very nice in that offense.

Stafford can't stay healthy. Best was not very good last year. Pettigrew is a good young TE, and certainly Suh is really good. Yet Fairley and Young haven't played a down yet. Not sure I would call this the blueprint for building a team. They have no LB's or secondary, and their OL is not that good (and getting old).

Like the Tampa Bay Rays - if you spend the better part of a decade picking in the Top 3 you should eventually stumble on some decent players.

They're in the process of building, and I like that they're picking up very talented players and not reaching for them. They've made very smart picks. Best was a rookie last year, can't judge him yet. Didn't look too bad to me when I watched.

They do need to address the offensive line, but I like that they got their franchise QB (if he can stay healthy), they have a franchise WR, solid running back, good pass-catching TE.. on defense they have a stud DT already and Fairley, who I'd be shocked if he couldn't be decent beside Suh. They have a nice guy to build the secondary around in Delmas.

I do agree about LBs and offensive line. They had very little to be excited about two years ago, now they have young talent all over the place.

Half those players weren't in the top three though. They've done a nice job.

EDIT: I hate the Lions, by the way.
