In the 9th, there was a brutal collision on the basepath.
LSU 2nd baseman (JaCoby Jones) was charging a grounder, and collided with a CSF runner.
both guys hit the deck hard.

Jones got up fairly quickly and stayed in the game.
CSF runner stayed down a little longer, but was able to walk off the field with help from a couple teammates. looked a little woozy, possibly concussed. Hope the kid is okay.

Actual attendance of 27,194 for the 3 game series is the largest in Alex Box Stadium history.

realistic shot at breaking that record next weekend when a team from the east pays us a visit. all 3 games have been listed as SRO since the day after tickets went on sale.

Hell of a game tonight.

LSU jumped out 2-0
UF battled back to tie it.

Tigers plated one in the 8th for a 3-2 lead.
Florida countered with 3 in the 9th (off our best Closer) to make it 5-3.

LSU scores a run and gets a man to 2nd with no outs, but couldn't push the winning run across.

Record crowd at the Box tonight. 12,076 paid. 10,220 actual.

Hell of a game is right.

I had an issue explode at work, & I had to get some pre-trial stuff filed that I was not counting on. And the game was on driving home and I got home and turned the TV on at the middle of the Gator 9th, minutes after we tied it up. (I was screaming "YES!!!YES!!! HELL YES!!!! in my driveway doing a little happy dance when Mike Zunino's blast cleared your stands...I knew something good had happened 'cause it got quiet and Hawthorne did not say [Mark May] for awhile  I received odd looks from a jogger going by for some reason)

I was feeling pretty good about it until your at bats. I thought it was going to be a deflated Tigger team, but your center field blast was about five feet from winning (or was that tying - hard to breath watching it ) - and then you had a guy on 2d with one out. Two strike outs later I was a happy Gator. Getting a win in that place was great. When Mattie Ott was starting to cook the crowd noise was ridiculous. Could not hear Jim Hawthorne (which is not a bad thing :p).

If we can steal one at your place on a night like tonight, I'll take it and run like hell. Great game for the impartial fan to see. Almost killed me.

(oh - I had a client offer me free tickets for tonight's game and I had to decline :smash: )

So great game Nutria. Which by that I mean, [censored] LSU and their whole Tabasco sauce covered corn dog contingent!! :groove3:

man on 2nd, down 1, no outs.
Mainieri decided to bunt with our leading hitter.
JaCoby Jones was hitting .439 coming in, and we bunted him.
I can't agree with that decision. Especially considering the guy behind him is hitting below .300.

our guys can't look at pitches that close.
i really thought the 3rd out should have been one pitch earlier.
got to defend the plate in that situation.

Good luck the rest of the way.
and by that i mean, i hope the rest of the weekend sucks for the gators, and they then having a long quiet flight back home wallowing in their sorrow.

Yeah. Puzzling to me too. And he popped it up to Zunino to run down. That would be "lay down" a bunt.

I though he was out on the second to last pitch, and that the next called strike was the make up...
