2011 Big East Tournament

I think Pitt is still a #1 seed. Who is going to take their place? My only guess would be Notre Dame... if they get to the Big East finals. If anything this helps solidify Ohio State as the #1 overall seed.

I agree that Pitt is still a #1 seed. I don't see them being passed by 2 teams from among ND-Purdue-ACC Tourney Champions, and those should be the only possbilities.

The 3 refs from the St. John's Rutgers game won't be doing any more Big East Tourney games this year. Jim Burr, Tim Higgins, and Earl Walton. Link

I think the last two #1 seeds were between ND-Pitt and Duke-Carolina. Now that Pitt lost in their first game, if ND ends up winning this tournament you have to give it to them with their win @ Pitt earlier in the year. If ND doesn't win (doesn't really matter who they lose to or when IMO) then it probably still goes to Pitt.

And whoever ends up winning the ACC Tournament should get the other, IMO. If it's someone other than Duke/Carolina then it probably goes to Duke. If Duke gets bounced in their first game and NC doesn't end up winning, Pitt might still have a chance at that 4th #1 IMO (assuming the 3rd goes to ND) because losing to either NC St or Maryland--both have sub-.500 conference records in the hahACC--will not reflect well on Duke with the selection committee. That would be a horrid end to the pre-NCAA Tournament season having lost 3 of their last 4 games.

If Carolina wins it then you have to give it them because they'll have won 10 straight games and (presumably) beaten Duke twice, one of which was on a neutral floor. If they sidestep Duke and win out you still have to give it to them because of how well they're playing.

I think the only scenario where other teams come into play, specifically the SDSU/BYU winner and Purdue, happens when Duke loses in their first game, Carolina doesn't win the ACC Tournament, ND doesn't win the Big East Tournament, and the Mountain West winner rolls in their final and/or Purdue rolls through the B10 tournament beating Ohio State and Wiscy in back-to-back games. Here, Pitt would probably get the 3rd #1 behind tOSU and KU and we end up having the exact same conversation about the last #1 as we're having now, just 3 days in the future with more games played and no additional information.

This is all assuming that a) these are the only teams in the conversation and 2) Ohio State and KU get the other two #1s. I can't see any scenario playing out that has either one of them not a #1, nor can I see any other teams even remotely in the conversation at this point, but I suppose teams like Syracuse and Texas could still make a lot of noise in the next couple of days.

But I'm high so I dunno if that makes any sense. Lol March.

Put 10,000 vbucks on UConn for the hell of it. Hope they have something left going on 200+ minutes of hoops in 5 days.

UConn starts fast, up 27-15 with 7:36 left in the half. Kemba is playing out of his mind in this tourney but there are still 27+ minutes left.
