2010 Rivals/Scout/etc. National & Regional Rankings

Grad, is the RB from Byrnes on that list the one that tore it up in the State title game?

He's listed at #2 on this list, and showing as a 5 Star. Name is Marcus Lattimore and he's supposedly a stud. There's a film on youtube from him that is from last year's State championship game (Sophomore Film), which I decided not to post because it's fairly poor quality film, and doesn't show too much. You actually really don't see much of anything until around the 2:45 mark in the film, but regardless you can see potential. I also may be wrong, but am almost sure that game was against AJ Green's team last year, which shows that he's playing against some decent competition.

The list only has 10 five stars listed in alphabetical order and then the remaining 90 are 4* and they hope to have the top 300 out in a month. The remaining 90 are also in alphabetical order so turner is not 88 like a lot of you say. They never do numbers this early, besides making a group of top 10.

The list is not alphabetical. Unless they have the national rankings up and numbered, Scout does the following:

The list all the five stars first, with position ranking serving as the rankings. The number 2 QB will never be above the #1 OLB as long as they're both 5 stars. Here are the rankings for the five stars on this list:

#1 QB
#1 RB
#1 WR
#1 OT
#1 DT
#1 DE
#1 OLB
#2 OT
#2 DE
#3 OT

Then they start on the four stars, so the top 6 stars will all play positions not typically rated as high. Here are the top ten four stars:

#1 TE
#1 OG
#1 C
#1 MLB
#1 S
#1 CB

The rest of the rankings follow a certain order of position (QB, RB, WR, TE, OT, OG, C, DT, DE, OLB, MLB, S, CB) until there's noone left ranked at that caliber at a certain position, then that position is skipped. The next nine rankings on this list are as follows:

#2 QB
#2 RB
#2 WR
#2 TE
#2 C
#2 DT
#2 OLB
#2 MLB
#2 S

Note that OT and DE are missing because their #2's are ranked as 5 stars, and CB is missing because no more appear on the list.

The rest of the list (up to Turner, the 12th DE listed) goes as follows:

#3 QB, #3 RB, #3 WR, #3 DT, #3 DE, #3 OLB, #3 S, #3 CB
#4 QB, #4 RB, #4 WR, #4 OT, #4 DT, #4 DE, #4 OLB, #4 S
#5 QB, #5 RB, #5 WR, #5 OT, #5 DT, #5 DE, #5 OLB, #5 S
#6 QB, #6 RB, #6 WR, #6 OT, #6 DE, #6 OLB, #6 S
#7 QB, #7 RB, #7 WR, #7 OT, #7 DE, #7 OLB
#8 QB, #8 RB, #8 WR, #8 OT, #8 DE, #8 OLB
#9 QB, #9 RB, #9 WR, #9 OT, #9 DE
#10 QB, #10 RB, #10 WR, #10 OT, #10 DE
#11 QB, #11 RB, #11 WR, #11 OT, #11 DE
#12 QB, #12 RB, #12 WR, #12 OT, #12 DE

However, I'm pretty sure that because they haven't done their 2010 positional rankings, all you can take away from this list is that Scout thinks Turner is a Top-100 player, not one of the ten best players in the country, and has at least two DE's ranked higher (the two 5 stars). Everything else I'm pretty sure is reading too much into it.

cb40, not that I disagree with you, but what has convinced you to put Ware so high? Besides the fact that he put up some very good stats at QB, there really hasn't been much film that truly shows his speed, power or elusiveness. Has anything changed this season that made you look at him differently?

Well I watched his game early in the season on FSN...Yeah he played QB, but he showed great elusiveness, he has top speed, and he is very well put together...

He had a couple moves in that game that made you go wow...I like the idea of a high school QB moving to RB...They have played the game thru a different point of view, and I think it will help in his understanding of the offense for pass blocking, and he is a running QB so he has experience with draws, and hitting holes, and using his vision, not only running the ball but passing the ball.

Surprised Dwight Macon's name hasn't been mentioned yet as a possible snub. Might not be thought of as top 100 material because he's listed at 6'0" ht, but I think this kid has what it takes to make it big wherever he goes at QB.

I don't understand why these lists come out so early, but c'est la vie.

Macon is probably in the range 15-25 in state...not a top 100 type player at this stage...

Dwight Macon in my opinion is a Top 10 player in the state!

He'll be at the US Army All-American National Combine in San Antonio,Texas showcasing his talent... Jan 1-3,2009

Dwight is 5'11/6' 190,he's still not done developing physically & mentally... he just turned 16 on Sept 1... he should/could be a SOPH!

He's so athletic,I could see him being a WR or FS at the next level and being VERY good...BUT,he has what IT takes to be a QB and that's where I see him playing.

As far as the national rankings(ESPN,Rivals,& Scout),what hurt Dwight is he only went to one camp last year(Ohio St)... These scouting services want you to hit as many camps/combines as possible!

He was invited to Florida's Friday Night Lights Camp last year, but was unable to attend...they love his athleticism!

On a side note: I was at all 6 State final games... A Norwell is a stud, but what stood out the most about him was his overall athletic ability. For such a big kid,he's very fluid, has great footwork,non-stop motor, and plays EVERY snap like it's the last(no taking plays off)!

DT's

I know it is early and there is a lot of evaluations to be done and players mature physically, but it is a shame that the top 4 DT's are already committed and OSU was not a potential player for any of them. I think the lack of 2010 DT talk makes Corey Adams even more important to the 09 class.

I think the 2010 class will get a couple Dt's...

Calvin Barnett looks like a solid guy from Oklahoma...Josh Davis is a guy that might get an offer from Ohio...

Then guys like Moore and Baldwin could grow into Dts...

And it is still very early...
