2010 McDonalds All American Game

With Turner it is, without him it is an impressive second to the thad 5 team.

Conley > buford
Butler **** diebler
Lewis < lighty
Harris < lauderdale
Oden > sullinger

Cook, Hunter, Lighty, Twigs **** 10 bench

With Turner:

Conley < Turner
Butler > Diebler
Lewis << Buford
Harris < Lighty
Oden > Sullinger

Othello and Dallas are somewhat comparable. The 06 bench is still superior with lighty and cook's abilities plus twigs energy, but it's a closer gap.

What's the problem with this? Ohio State got plenty of good publicity among high school ballers because the game was held at the Schott. I couldn't care less that our banners weren't up.

I just was not a fan of seeing all the OSU banners (especially the retired numbers) going down so they can put up banners for companies like Powerade and Reebok - it was unnecessary. After reviewing the ESPN telecast, there were very few shots of the rafters - the one I remember was when they interviewed Alonzo Mourning, they had the banner with his name on it behind him in the rafters in the background. There was plenty of video board space for advertisements, they used the center scoreboard for commercials during timeouts, and there were plenty other places to hang signs (e.g., the basket support had Reebok signs prominently placed on it). Someone apparently felt they needed to go the extra mile with their advertisements to hang up temporary banners, and I wouldn't have minded it if they weren't taking all the other banners down to do it. They took down literally every banner OSU had put up there. You could barely tell from inside the arena that it was OSU's homecourt. The word "Buckeyes" along the baseline was about the only thing they left.

My problem is that those banners are part of the tradition of Ohio State basketball. If they played at Duke or North Carolina, I guarantee you that the banners are not pulled down.

Those banners are up there to celebrate accomplishments and to honor those who achieved them. I think it is comparable to wanting someone to take the paintings of scenes in Columbus down when inviting friends to dinner, so that the guests can put up images of their hometowns.

Maybe it's just me, but I think it is disrespectful and Ohio State should never have agreed to it.

... consider how well our perimeter players have done this year with no real scoring threat inside. Sullinger changes that paradigm completely - with or without Evan. This will be without question the most talented and deepest team of the Matta era.
Sullinger is a threat from any spot beyond the center circle. We may well be more of a half-court team next season with him and Thomas providing more inside scoring threats, and likely much better offensive rebounding (overall the Buckeyes were an excellent defensive rebounding team this year, though we fell flat in the tourney).

The 2010-11 Buckeyes may or may not be more talented than the NC game team with Oden and Conley (top end talent on that team was unreal), but I agree that our depth will far exceed what we've seen since that season.

Last week my wife and I took our three grandsons to see "How to Train Your Dragon" in 3-D. I spent the rest of the day complaining that we had spent $57 to see a movie.

Here is hoping she doesn't see my ticket stub with the $58 price tag for one seat to the Mickey D game.

Ladies game was weak (first half was an embarrassment). Boys game was top drawer. And Sullinger is the real deal (those 22 points, 7 boards, 2 assists and 3 steals came in only 24 minutes of time that was shared with a bevy of ball hogging all stars). And he was a major contributor to what little D was played in that game.

I want Turner back as much as the next guy. But consider how well our perimeter players have done this year with no real scoring threat inside. Sullinger changes that paradigm completely - with or without Evan. This will be without question the most talented and deepest team of the Matta era.

Yes oh8ch, all true. Definitely most talented but we currently don't have a college ready PG, which will be devastating to our chances of a championship or a deep run. We'll be good, no doubt. But the season all depends on how we solve that issue at PG and if there is actually a good option there.

Oden > Sullinger

Defensively, yes although Sullinger is a good defender. Offensively, Oden wasn't nearly the player as a freshman that Sullinger will be coming in. Sullinger has a bevy of moves and a solid jumper out to and beyond 3 point range. Oden had dunks and a couple of moves. His footwork was bad and he traveled a lot. I also think Sullinger is a better rebounder than Oden despite the size difference. I'd call this one a draw at worst.

First of all, the words were talent and depth, not 'best player'.
Defensively, yes although Sullinger is a good defender.
Oden erased or altered everything within 12 feet of the hoop. The difference between the two is pretty substantial, even though Sullinger is good defensively.

He also battled back from an injury which severely hurt his limited offensive game.
