So I went with a team that has a bulldog as its mascot and derives its name from some elitist greek/latin (gratin?) chant instead of picking the team whose mascot is an awesome, menacing cat that eats the flesh of other animals? I deserve to lose.

I posted this in the vBet thread, but after playing with the scenario generator I figured out that even though I'm in 24th place right now, I'll win the pool in any scenario where the following things happen:

  • Ohio State beats Duke in the title game
  • West Virginia loses to Washington
  • Kansas State beats Xavier
It's a bit of a stretch, but not entirely out of the realm. The current standings are going to change a lot by the end. Points-wise we're only 1/3 of the way through, and there are a lot of people near the top who had teams like Kansas and/or Villanova deep in their brackets.

I'm a bit disappointed in my own bracket. My strength is usually the second round, and I expect to get 13 or 14 out of 16. I only got 9. My title game predictions are still intact though, and that's more than can be said for most people in the group at this point.

I totally butchered the East bracket. I have no points left there, which sucks. My place in the standings and my chances to win would be much better if I had even one of my teams left there.
