2009 tOSU Offense Discussion

Great game plan and execution against the Ducks. I thought the quick passing attack was solid and TP took good care of the ball. I have been very critical of Coach Tressel but wanted to say that I thought he really came in with a solid game plan that was executed well by the team. I hope this is just the start of something better going into next season. This was a very good offensive game that was much needed. Go Bucks

Great job by the Coaches and the O yesterday. Give Oregon credit, their D brought it and their D-Coord really mixed things up, and the O-line and TP held it together and came up with a great win (of course some credit should go to the D as well )

You really could see the maturity compared to when they faced a similar D gameplan in Purdue.

Just because we "tossed it all over the lot"(37 pass attempts!), don't be fooled into thinking that is what we will look like all next season. The Rose Bowl was a special circumstance where we faced a lot of man coverage. Big Ten teams, to my knowledge, don't play a lot of man coverage.
Still the confidence gained will help TP and the whole offense next season. And we will be better balanced on offense.

true. Tressel even said that wasn't the O we'll see next year.
I believe next year we'll begin to see an offense similar to what we ran with Troy from late '05 and '06. The coaches clearly used this as a year to bring TP along slowly. Allowing him to sling it around 37 times is a clear indication that they are now trusting his arm. He showed he earned that trust.

I still think we're lacking that "go to" tailback like Pittman or Beanie, but with Boom, Saine, Jordan Hall and Berry all onboard next year, that's a very deep stable of backs who all have their own strong suits.

WR depth is a bit of a concern for me, but Posey is a star and Sanz is rock solid. Hopefully Duron gets his head straight. After that, TWash and Schwartz will have to step up. I'm curious to see what Jackson and Fields can bring. And for God's sake, please get Stoneburner involved.

I think the OL will be as good as any in the country next year. Outstanding depth.

The Rose Bowl gameplan, offensive play calling, etc. is the offense I go to bed dreaming about Tressel running.
They can definitely win the big ten again next season with the same offense they ran most of this year, but they will be unstoppable if they build upon what they started in the RB...

I agree in some ways but I have to believe that we will mix it up and throw the ball more next year, much like we did with TS. I think TP earned that with his showing in the bowl game. He secured the ball and made plays when he had too. I also agree that we will not throw it around 35 or 40 times a game a lot but we could see it a few more times next year when teams sell out against our run game.

Oregon, after our first drive brought pressure and sold out to make TP beat them with his arm. They forced us to throw the ball, which we were prepared to do. Great offensive game by the Buckeye staff and team. Defense was rock solid as usual. Go Bucks
