A brief look at each team's schedule.

Georgia gets credit for the toughest schedule in the SEC East this year, their non-conference games are: at Okie St, Ariz St, Tenn Tech, and at Ga Tech. They also face LSU and Auburn from the West.

Not a lot of great non-conference games from the West, there is Bama-GTech and Auburn-West Va. Bama misses Florida and Georgia.

I would give some credit to UGA for beefing up the schedule and traveling out of the region and traveling west more recently, it's just good for CFB.

Damon Evans deserves all that credit. He's the one that wants to establish more of an SEC/Big 12 rivalry and got Okie State on the schedule. In years to come we have Clemson and Colorado.

The Tech game should mean alot more too. Coach Johnson seems to have the team in the right direction (at least the offense) and they won't flop around to 7-8 wins like they did under Chan Gailey.

Yeah, I agree. It's not even trying to schedule "powerhouses" it's just the practice of scheduling recognizable programs OOC and more to the point out of region. We all know there are plenty of schools in the south OOC, but to expand the University nationally and invoke an image of a more willing program you have to get out of the South. UGA really just didn't do that for years, but let's hope the trend continues in the future, because it benefits both programs and CFB overall.

In regards to Gailey, he really brought down the Tech program the past few years. It was just weak with him at the helm. I think Johnson has the charisma to appeal to the ATL crowd, and take back parts of the city from the UGA fans that have overrun it. Hell, Tech won a MNC not very long ago, the South is a recruiting hotbed and I can see where his offense would appeal to those "fast" players as much as a spread would. Though his O is much more power than a spread O attack. He definitely has the ability to bring Tech up to where they were in the National scene and atop the ACC again, but we'll see how he does. Started on the right foot last year that's for sure. With the win over UGA, the bowl beatdown is looked over for the most part. It could turn into a real good rivalry again, nationally speaking that is. Always is a hell of a rivalry in ATL/GA.
