yeah, but most of them don't run off a coach with a .680 winning percentage to bring on the hard times.

Yeah, but I don't have any milk.........

Yep, I didn't agree with that decision, still don't, but it was the university's decision to make. Who knows, Chizik could turn into the best coach in auburn history. Or he could field garbage teams for a few years and get the boot. I personally would have loved if we would have been able to get Muschamp to fill the HC position, call it wishful thinking.

We'll see what happens.
Chizik seems like a reach at best, and a colossal fuck-up at worst.

Muschamp would have been a bigger splash without a doubt. Personally, I would hate to be the guinea pig giving an assistant his 1st head gig.
Too many questions, too big of a risk. But I love the emotion he brings to the table, and think he'll be a good HC someday. Just would like him to get his feet wet a little before jumping aboard.

An SEC program with good facillities, good fan support, and money to throw around could have landed someone better than Chizik though.
If Arkansas of all places can land Petrino, and UNC can get Butch Davis, I figured Auburn would reach a little higher than they did.

You forget. They're fighting an uphill battle with this happy schmuck leading the charge.

Seems to me the only reason they hired him over Gill and the other candidates is because of his former ties to the university, contrary to popular belief. (Barkley :roll2:) Time will tell whether or not this was a good decision, and the odds are against him. There's nothing I can do about it so I'll just sit back and watch, and hope for the best.

Just sayin'. Firing a coach with a .680+ winnng percentage and hiring a head scratcher of a replacement may not actually lead to hard times.

I WANT GLEN MASON!!!! :smash: :p

W. W. (Woody) Hayes (1951-1978) 205 Wins, 61 Losses, 10 Ties, .761 Winning Pct. Fired.

Earle Bruce (1979-1987) 81 Wins, 26 Losses, 1 Tie, .755 Winning Pct.

Fired
"managed to finish with a winning record against Michigan. Earle was fired and replaced in 1988 by John Cooper."

Seems the Buckeyes aren't strangers to the phenomenom.

Most of you are forgetting what a total D-bag Fulmer was and how he got the job in the first place.
He was an O-Cordinator for UT when Johnny Majors was the head coach. Majors leaves the program on medical leave - Fulmer takes over and starts throwing the ball around - Majors is declared healthy but Fulmer negotiates a backroom deal to stay as head coach.

Majors is canned and SEC football fans are treated to 15+ years of fat jokes at UT's expense.

There's more of that goes round than most fans are aware of. I worked with two former ND players and heard them discussing how a certain defensive coordinator greased the skids under Lou Holtz and got himself named head coach.

"Beware, yon Cassius has a lean and hungry look." Make descriptive corrections where you feel necessary for Phil.

Not me. Dude was biggest (in more ways than one) douche bag in the SEC.
In true backwoods hillbilly fashion, UT went out and found themselves someone that competes with him in the douchebaggery department.

Yeah, it's real early but you can already tell that Kiffin is going to be one of the most hated coaches in the nation.
