Oh, and a quick thing I wanted to point out...

If you are presented the choice of Ohio State vs Southern Cal, please use either "Ohio State" or "Southern Cal" as your pick.

Now I know this isn't a "media" site but it's a sort-of derogatory way to refer to USC as "Southern Cal"...

Note to the media: In editorial references to athletic teams of the University of Southern California, the following are preferred: USC, Southern California, So. California, Troy and Trojans for men?s or women?s teams, and Women of Troy for women?s teams. PLEASE do not use Southern Cal (it?s like calling San Francisco
?Frisco? or North Carolina ?North Car.?). The usage of "Southern Cal" on licensed apparel and merchandise is limited in scope and necessary to protect federal trademark rights

Anyway I probably just ensured that people around here will keep calling it Southern Cal, but I thought I'd mention it anyway :tongue2:

I've always used Southern Cal because it's the easiest to write out without any odd abbreviations and the least likely to be confused with any other school.

FWIW, the reason why I ask people use the names as they're presented is because it's easier to score if I do a simple pattern match. I prefer to not have short acronyms in there otherwise it makes it difficult to determine which OSU is the correct answer in a week where Ohio State, Oregon State, and Oklahoma State are all eligible picks. Same deal with Southern Cal and South Carolina. :wink2:

Using team nicknames and mascots also creates more work, and then it's further confused when the Trojans of Southern Cal could be mistaken with the Trojans of Troy, who are not the Men of Troy.

So, for the purposes of this contest, I consider my usage of Southern Cal on BP as being limited in scope.
