Maybe this guy will have an impact on the jackass who's the head of Pac Ten officials.

In case anyone cares (which BK doesn't below  ), Dave Cutaia is the jackass I'm referrring to.

The Pac-10 better watch out. He's a steamroller, baby.

Non-Conference Schedule: San Jose State, at Ohio State, at Notre Dame

Summary: USC starts out the season facing Dick Tomey's tough San Jose State defense, and then it's game on from there on out. The national title chase can be kick-started, or dealt a nasty blow, in the non-conference game of the year at Ohio State. There are four road games in the next five and six of the next eight including games at Cal, Notre Dame, Oregon and Arizona State. One of the home games will be against Oregon State in a revenge game, but the Trojans might not be fully jacked up after dealing with the Bears and Irish. USC will have to keep its focus through the brutal stretch, and if it can do it, there's a nice reward in the end with three home games against Stanford, UCLA, and Arizona. Strangely enough, the regular season won't end against the Bruins.

Sep. 05 San Jose State
Sep. 12 at Ohio State

Oregon offered Gruden job

Former NFL coach Jon Gruden paid a visit to Eugene recently to spend some X's and O's time with new Oregon coach Chip Kelly. It turns out, there was more to it. According to this report, Kelly offered Gruden the position of offensive coordinator. Kelly confirmed that he did make the offer, which Gruden declined. According to a story in the Orlando Sentinel two months ago, Gruden said he wants to learn as much about the spread offense as possible and use it in a return to the NFL. Apparently, the deal was close to being done, but when Gruden declined, Kelly and the Ducks went to the Plan B, which was to make former head coach Mike Bellotti the temporary quarterbacks coach.

USC
April 25 - The Cardinal team held off the White team, 16-10, in the annual Trojan Huddle, a 110-play scrimmage. In a game dominated by the defenses and special teams, no one stood out more than redshirt freshman DE Nick Perry, who had seven tackles, six tackles for loss, and four sacks. Both defenses were dominant, harassing Aaron Corp, Matt Barkley, and Mitch Mustain all day. Corp, who'll be the starter heading into summer, led all passers by going 14-of-23 for 157 yards and a touchdown toss to Jordan Cameron. The only Trojan backs who had much daylight were Marc Tyler, who had 44 yards on seven carries, and C.J. Gable, the author of a 45-yard scamper.

Most of these writers think the Pac-10 should keep thing with 10 teams all playing each other.

Daily Roundtable - Should The Pac 10 Expand?

Fiutak - No. Not only should the Pac 10 not get a championship game, the SEC, ACC, and Big 12 should ditch theirs.

They're gimmicks, they're unnecessary, and most of all, they've been sort of dry. Oh sure, the SEC title game last year was epic with Florida beating unbeaten and No. 1 Alabama for a spot in the national title, and there have been some decent moments in several title games, but quick, name who played in last year's ACC championship. If it takes you a moment, don't worry; you and about 50,000 other people didn't go to see Virginia Tech beat Boston College for the second year in a row aren't the only ones who'd struggle to answer it.

When it comes to the Pac 10, I love the nine game conference schedule and wish the other leagues would ditch non-conference games to come up with more conference battles and a true champion. It makes my sense of inner justice happy to know that the Pac 10 and Big East champions are true, unlike the title holders in the other BCS leagues. If some Big Ten teams miss Ohio State, and some SEC teams miss Florida, it's hard to truly be happy with the results.

For those who want Pac 10 expansion and a championship game because you like the format and you want the closure of a season-ending battle, fine. You like what you like, but don't throw out the argument that the Pac 10 needs a title game to get more respect from the BCS. Ask Ohio State if you need a conference championship game to play for the national title. Ask West Virginia, who would've been playing for it all in 2007 if it had beaten Pitt in the regular season finale. USC hasn't missed out on playing for the national championship because it didn't get a conference championship game, and that includes 2003 (remember, the rules and BCS set up has been changed and tweaked).
