2009 NFL Draft (Mocks, Evaluation, etc.)

I know it's extremely early, but the first mocks are beginning to pop up and this can lead to some decent discussion as we wait fr the bowl bids. I just like this one for the Browns' selection, though Beanie's spot is a bit of a joke.

2009 NFL Mock Draft

I was on the verge of making this same thread a few weeks ago, I love the draft. Especially when many Buckeyes are going to be in it.

That draft is quite a bit different than many others I've seen. I see Maualuga going as the #1 LB. JL is probably in the right place, but I could definitely see him going higher. I don't think he falls beyond wherever Denver picks.

No way Beanie falls that far. I've watched Knowshon Moreno this year, and there is no fucking way that he goes ahead of Beanie. Beanie is better in every way. Moreno is a fantastic back, but he's no Beanie.

I'm not sure I think Stafford is #1 material.. he's made some awful decisions this year, and looked pretty average a handful of times. But I'm not a talent scout, so..

That draft seemed like a bit of a stretch....I'd think Chicago has to go QB unless they swing a deal for McNabb.

Beanie goes much higher than #25. Aaron Curry being the first LB off of the board was a huge reach. Matt Stafford going #1 is a huge reach. Stafford has been wildly inconsistent and thrown many terrible interceptions this year...freshman-sophmore type mistakes. His potential is great though. Word is he isn't a huge worker though, which is what Matt Ryan hung his hat on and continues to do.

I'm not sure Malcolm goes at #9 either...he has shined this year, and genrally the #1 cb goes earlier than #9.

Obviously, mock drafts this early are difficult to put together when you don't know draft order and need on draft day. The Browns being at #9 is a perfect example...Browns won't win another game this year, and will have a much better pick than #9. Ken Dorsey ensures a top 6 pick.

Couple of thoughts:

1. I read alot of NFL blogs. Most everyone seems to think that the Lions will throw ALOT of money at Matt Cassell. If they get him - Stafford will obviously drop.
I'd like to see him in Seattle or St. Louis where he has the chance to learn behind Bulger or Hasselbeck.
It's likely he'll come out because the NFL is really pushing to have a Rookie Salary Cap for the class of 2010. I'd love to have him for one more year.

2. Knowshon to the Patriots = BOOOO! That would make me sick.

3. The combine will go along way in determining the gap between Rey and James. I give Rey a slight edge now because of (my perception) of slightly more advanced coverage skills. Please DO NOT interpret this as OMG SPEED!

4. If the Falcons got that Gresham kid from Oklahoma - I'd be one happy guy. That kid can P-L-A-Y.

Scott Wright is an idiot. I've learned to never listen to this moron.

SHUT UP DICK!

He has Beanie going to the Bengals. This would restore my faith in pro football. It will never happen tho. They'll trade down and draft Morgan :slappy: Trent...it has been foretold.

This guy might be a Bucks fan. If Jacksonville is looking for a Mike, they've gotta go with Maualuga. The Itis might be better suited on the outside in the pros.

Agree.. I think Maualuga is the better MLB. Not saying that JL couldn't be a MLB. The guy also has to be a Bengals fan..

It?s hard to believe considering how bad they have been this season but the Bengals really don?t have very many glaring needs.

Cincy needs an o-line before Beanie. Beanie would get destroyed. :(

Agree about Rey...tho I never thought JL's weakness was pass coverage. I thought he excelled there.

About the Bengals...he's right. If the Douchebag formerly known as Carson would've played more this year, who knows? Besides, you can't draft a new owner.

A few observations from the first draft posted. No way Colt McCoy goes in the top 10. I don't think he goes in the first round. I might give Maualauga an edge over Lauranitus. Beanie is a top 10 player. No question about that. I think Moreno is in the right spot, he just shouldn't be ahead of Beanie. I see Jenkins going to the Browns so I like his spot there.

I thought JL was pretty good in coverage as well.

You don't think the Bengals have any glaring weaknesses? I think they pretty much need everything except CB, QB, and WR. I don't watch them much, so..
