2009 BPCFFB Keeper League

Something I forgot to bring up until just now....and we should probably get an answer on before the draft...

I think we should tweak the rules to lessen the impact of KR/PR. I talked about it with Piney and Niagara during last year, and I think they're in agreement. But of course, it should be opened up for everybody. I actually won a few games because my guys returned kicks...and that's kind of cheap.

Open floor...if anybody is out there...thoughts?

Lose the KR/PR. That's my vote.

Edit - Will we have a list of who's who's keepers? I figure I'll try to draft one of your players at some point if I don't know you have him.

I don't mind losing the KR/PR numbers, makes it easier to compute points. Or keep it simple by using only TDs scored and not use yardage.

Also, if I can get around to creating the draft thread (going to try to put it together on Monday, the day before the official start date) my plan is to have post #2 in the thread being everyone's keepers.

I dont think we should get rid of them per se, but maybe make their yardage on KR/PR half the value, or 1/3.
I think if they score, that should stay normal.

I think lessen the value, but not remove it entirely. 1 point per 20 yards would get my vote. Some value, but not a game-changing amount.

Ok, time to get cracking on stuff. Luckily I have a slightly easy day today and will be able to get shit done.

OUTSTANDING ISSUES

KR/PR yardage, it was 1pt/ 10 yards. Seems like everyone wants to change that. But how much is the question?

#1 - No yardage, just return TDs
#2 - 1pt/20 yards
#3 - 1pt/30 yards
#4 - 1pt/40 yards

Then we have to figure out scheduling stuff. Now we are 10 teams instead of 12 teams we do need to change it up. We could do divisions 5/5 but that would mean 13 games each and that is how many weeks we have in this college season. And a round robin means only 9 games? What do we do with the other 4 weeks plus bowls? Thoughts?

Any other issues? Anyone have any other issues with any rules? Let me know now before we get the draft moving.

The only other option is play everyone once and then use the remaining regular season weeks for our playoffs (like most NFL leagues). Doesn't matter to me. TDs on Returns is fine, or we could just loose return stats altogether.

That is a good idea, using the regular season as playoffs versus using bowls like we did.

So should we do a 8 team playoff (since we have 4 weeks) Or just take the top 4 teams like last year and since we have 4 weeks, both playoff rounds can include 2 weeks of stats?

At this point it doesn't make sense to start this before the Holiday weekend. I say the draft starts at 8:00am on Tuesday (some people have Monday off :groove: ). This will give kinch a long weekend to get his keepers in. If kinch doesn't get them in by then, he'll just keep everybody that he's allowed to.

I'll send out a mass PM later just copying that so everybody is aware, even if they haven't checked this thread.

FYI - Here is kinch's keepers if he doesn't supply a list by 8am tomorrow morning.

RB DeMarco Murray, Oklahoma
RB Ryan McCants, Oregon St
RB Stephfon Greene, Penn St
RB Chris Polk, Washington
WR Arrelious Benn, Illinois
WR Greg Little, North Carolina
WR Detron Lewis, Texas Tech
WR Mark Dell, Michigan St
WR London Crawford, Arkansas
K Daniel Lincoln, Tennessee
D Cincinnati
D Florida St

I say top 4. 8 is well more than half the field. 2 weeks per seems to give us a better chance to use our "best" roster during the POs even with late season byes. (Unless we're counting the week of Dec. 5... there's a few teams playing, but not enough I don't think.. and I think it's Championship Weekend (ie Big XII, SEC, ACC etc.))

Not counting the week of December 5th (week 14), barely anyone plays that weekend. The last full slate is Week 13 (OSU v Michigan is Week 12 though). So here is how it would look.

Week 1-9 - Round robin schedule, everyone plays each other

Week 10 & 11 - #1 v #4 & #2 v #3 (and Consolation games for draft order)
Week 12 & 13 - Championship Game (and Consolation games for draft order)

That makes sense to me.

My vote on the return yardage, if we insist on doing something with it, would be to drop it to 1 pt per 20 yards.

Some people probably drafted players with the knowledge that the players would be returning kicks and they'd be getting points for that. Of course, some players left school early and took their shit ton of return yards with them. I'm lookin' at you, Maclin. :tic:

One reason I really like this somewhat figured out before we start drafting tomorrow.

So far, 3 Votes for #1 (BN, BKB & me)

And 2 votes for reduced points (BK & Niagara since he mentioned he wanted to 1/3 the pts)
